The Fallen... there but for the grace....,

...A great read - I highly recomend it. I read it in one night, I just couldn't put it down. Much better than the first, it goes more into Aaron's past, and his ultimate goal. But don't read it before you read the first book! You'll be horribly lost.

It's hard to find good sequels, but the Leviathan is great!,
By Taylor Corbet "Taylor Corbet" (PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Leviathan (The Fallen) (Mass Market Paperback)
This story gives much more inside on Aarons angelic destiny. We (the readers) watch him grow and develop as he learns to control his angelic nature. With Gabe, the magically enhanced Labrador retriever, and Camael, former leader of the Powers, Aaron sets out on a search to save his autistic foster brother Stevie whos been captured by Verchiel, cruel leader of the powers. On the way he encounters an evil as ancient as the world itself including the Archangel Gabriel who also believes Aaron is the Nephilim of the prophesy that says that he will reunite the fallen with God.In the Leviathan, we learn a little more about the structure of the story as well as receive a foreshadowing of the events to come in the next book, Aerie. Just like in the first books, the descriptions are so real that if one allows oneself to, he or she can really feel the pain and anguish of the characters. This makes the book very powerful. I recommend the enter series to everyone who likes a good fantasy, and anyone whos read the first book must read this one. My suggestion: keep an eye out for the prisoner from the Serbian monetary. Theres something about him

Aaron has come a long way - from a high school student to learning and becoming a Nephilim, the product of the union of a fallen angel and a mortal woman - he may be the one prophesized that will be the conduit between the fallen and God - to give redepmtion to the fallen who truly repent for their transgressions - The Powers, 'avenging angels' who have made it their mission to destroy the Nephilim - they have warped God's mission and are on Aaron's path -
Aaron is accompanied in his quest by his dog Gabriel, who since Aaron saved him can communicate with Aaron and other fallen, and Camael, one of the fallen who has been changed since he heard the Prophecy, and fights against the Powers. They go to a small town in Maine, seeking Aaron's foster brother who has been taken by the Powers. The child has been transformed into a killing machine by the leader Vercheil. Things are not what they seem in this little town - most have been taken by a monster, Leviathan - even those who have tried to stop it, like the Angel Gabriel. Again, Aaron proves that he is more than just your average Nephilim. It is an excellent continuation to the series.

Much Better than the Previous Installment,

About the Book:
This novel starts right where the last one left off. With his foster parents dead, Aaron leaves behind his home and school to try to find his brother, Stevie, who has been captured by the angel, Verchiel, who plans on using Stevie as a hound of sorts. Following his instinct, Aaron ends up in Blithe, Main where something strange is going on. Not only are the locals a little odd, but Camael, Aaron's angel companion, has gone missing. There are also a multitude of unnatural creatures running around, further indicating that something is amiss. Review: Whereas The Fallen felt slow and cumbersome, Leviathan is much more fast paced. Although I am still not a fan of the main character and few are close to being well rounded, I still found myself enjoying this book immensely. This is definitely a plot driven book, and if that is not your cup of tea, I would not bother picking this series up. Now, I did find the climax battle to be a bit repetitious after a while (god knows the word behemoth was repeated too often), I still found most of the reading to be quite enjoyable, and there was definitely a creep factor when I found out why the people of Blithe have an oddity about them. Now, anyone who has an inkling of Christian and Jewish lore will know what the leviathan is. However, even with this knowledge, I was entranced by the originality and vulgarity of the beast, along with the other unique creations that Sniegoski brought to the page. I only hope that the rest of the series proves just as good and interesting. So far, this is a series I would recommend for both teens and adults, and if you are into angels and/or action driven plots, this is definitely worth a read.

This is a fictional trilogy and I found it fantastic!! I bought all three books including "The Fallen", "Leviathan" and "Aerie". The third book wasn't nearly as good as the first two, but was still worth reading. If you like reading about angels -- not the happy, harp-playing angels that play in the clouds, but the fallen angels, and the Nephilim (children of Fallen angels and human women), then these books are for you!

Attention Grabbing Action Backed Book,
This review is from: Leviathan (The Fallen) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was one of the best books I have ever read. Undoubtedly i don't read a whole lot because i can not seem to find all that many books that grab my interest and hold on to them. This book grabbed a hold of my attention and didn't let go till after i was through with it. It was so enticing that i didn't want to put it down. It was just as captivating if not more than the first book of the series. It was filled with a lots of action and descriptive visual effects. The writer adds in some back story for the characters that help fill in any blank areas left from the first book. It was greatly written, with lots of interesting dialog. I think it was a great all around book. Worth the reading time. It will make you want to continue reading on to the next books of the series and finish the spectacular story of Aaron Corbet and his friends.

Our saga continues, the story open with a Fallen angel praying to the Divine and listening to others who are also praying. He is seized by the Powers and offers no resistance. Verchiel torments this prisoner with relish
Aaron is now on the run with Camael and his dog Gabriel. Together they are searching for his little brother Stevie and trying to elude capture by the Powers. Camael tries to help Aaron merge with his angelic self. They are lured to a seemingly peaceful town with a dark secret . . . which has been seduced by a malevolent ancient creature . . . Leviathan. Camael is also drawn into the web and is captured. Aaron's angel instincts feels like something isn't right, but he can't quite put his finger on it. Gabriel also senses something is wrong. He searches the town for Camael. Meanwhile back in Aaron's old town Vilma is going thru similar changes that Aaron went thru . . . she too, is Nephilim . . . Verchiel meanwhile decides to use angel magick and transforms Aaron's brother Stevie into something else . . . a deadly hunter of false prophets and the Fallen. He intends to use his new creation to find Aaron and if possible, to kill him. What a sweet irony for Verchiel . . . to see Aaron killed by his own brother . . . Aaron finds the ancient beast in an underground cave, he sees his friend Camael and his dog Gabriel and other magical creatures hanging in translucent sacks beneath the belly of the beast. Aaron is seduced by the beast, but his angelic nature surfaces and rebels against the seduction . . . Aaron must break free and save those whom the beast feeds upon . . . One of the angels he frees tells him, ". . . you have done much to expunge the sins of the father and to fulfill the edicts of prophecy . . . you are your father's son . . . you have his eyes . . ." NOTE: If you're a deeply religious person you may find these novels offensive to your tastes, especially in regards as to how the author chooses to portray Lucifer Morningstar. But if you have an open mind, perhaps you can just simply enjoy these books for the fiction that they are. I found the series of books to be wonderfully written and richly portrayed. I did see the ABC movie that was based on these books, but the movie did not follow the books exactly and left a lot out. Also the movie chose to portray Lucifer as the evil angel outlined in many current religious works.

Who IS this Sniegoski Guy?!,

I guess I am that person on the boards who just discovered what everyone else has already seen and talked about a long time ago and moved on.
I discovered Thomas Sniegoski when I bought one of those anthology books because Charlaine Harris and Jim Butcher were in it. The only other author who impressed me in that book was Sniegoski. I loved his style. In fact, it sounded familiar to me... so, look through Google and Amazon search, and I found out why. Buffy, Hellboy ... I've been a fan of Sniegoski for a long time!! The Remy Chandler series and now this series have completely charmed me! Dancing on the Head of a Pin: A Remy Chandler Novel A Kiss Before the Apocalypse: A Remy Chandler Novel The Fallen The Fallen series is clearly pitched at a young adult audience. No problem. I can enjoy that, even though it's been a while since I was a young adult! This series has lots of heart, and is "Biblically Correct" often enough that it doesn't make me cringe with stupid, amateurish, Hollywoodish, ignorant angelic "stuff". Yes, this is all just fantasy stories, but still... fantasy/scifi has to have SOME basis in fact to be any good. Sniegoski did his homework about angels and uses all of that rich tradition to tell classic human stories. I like this one. I like it a lot. I'd recommend it to anyone of any age. They're wholesome, tense, scary, satisfying. I love this Sniegoski guy! And, BTW - these "Fallen" books were made into a TV movie, with a cast of really familiar faces I've seen on tv this season! (Vampire Diaries, Eyes) Here's a quote from his website: "All by himself, Tom wrote a four-book series called The Fallen, and these books were actually the basis for the ABC Family Channel mini-series by the same name in 2006-2007. Right now, he is writing two new middle grade series - Billy Hooten: Owlboy for Delacorte and The Brimstone Network for Aladdin. His wife hopes these will be optioned too. His wife thinks his first solo adult novel, A Kiss Before the Apocalypse, is the best book he's ever written. Dancing on the Head of a Pin, the sequel to A Kiss Before the Apocalypse, came out in April 2009. His newest release as of October 2009 is Legacy, a novel which answers the age-old question: What if you found out your deadbeat father is a superhero?" Absolutely entertaining reading. You can still get the ABC Family Channel mini-series on iTunes. Yes, I shelled out for that, too. This is the price a person has to pay when they're LATE to the party! I REALLY WISH ABC Family had advertised this mini-series better - I would have been there if I'd seen even ONE advertisement for it. Whatever. Don't just get this one book - you'll want the whole series, so just buy it all NOW! Buy all the Remy Chandler series, too. Go ahead. You know you'll want to read those, too. You'll want to read them more than one time.

I read several reviews stating this wasn't as good as the other books in the series, perhaps, but I enjoyed it very much. It also opened the door to a new kind of creatures besides the ones in the current series. I know I should be saying this but if you like this series then this is a must.
