4.0 out of 5 stars I like them
I replaced 3 switches to exterior lighting with these. I can now tell when the outside lights are on. They make a louder click than my other decora switches and the light is difficult to see in the daytime. At night, they provide a reasonable orange glow to indicate usage.

2.0 out of 5 stars Can't get it to work
Sadly the documentation that ships with this switch is absolutely terrible. In a normal outlet you will have 6 wires, two hot (black), two neutrals (white) and two grounds. Their documentation shows a common (to my knowledge a common only exists in 3-way switches, so why mention it in a single pole switch), the two load wires, and a ground. Notice a problem? We're missing...

Their documentation shows a common (to my knowledge a common only exists in 3-way switches, so why mention it in a single pole switch), the two load wires, and a ground. Notice a problem? We're missing another neutral. Trying to follow the wiring diagram as it is presented, assuming by common they mean the line in leads to a switch where the pilot light is always on, and the light it is supposed to be controlling never being on. I have so far wasted about 3 hours trying to install a switch which should have taken 10 minutes to install because the documentation is THAT BAD. Further, they have a technical support line, but of course its open from 9-5 monday through friday, which means anyone who works for a living is screwed. The one redeeming quality thus far is that the switch looks nice. If I could ever get it installed properly, maybe my opinion would improve. Necessary disclaimer, I am upgrading from a switch from the 1960's, which used quick install terminals that don't have screws, so there was no way to reference the old switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Less expensive and faster shipping than local order, February 1, 2010

Perfect switch for the light in the attic and about 25% less than the local supply house. Local supplier wanted to wait for a larger order before they would order it from Leviton.
