This switch is for only a small incandescent light bulb. The item description is false. If you need a switch for a fan or halogen lights or anything other than a regular old fashioned light bulb get the 20 amp switch 6215M.

I installed this almost 7 years ago in our bathroom watercloset, to shut down the fan. The concept was great, and I enjoy the design. However, right from the start I found that it reduced the AC output to the fan significantly. This reduces the noise (a good thing), but also reduces the efficiency (a bad thing). Finally, through these many years with the built-up lint & dirt within the fan, the fan ceased to function. After cleaning the fan to a large degree, it worked for about 1 week before again ceasing to function. Remembering how much it reduced the AC and thus the fan speed/torque, I removed this timer and re-installed a standard AC switch. The fan immediately came on strongly and I have faith it will continue to function well for years to come.
At this point, I don't know whether the timer I installed was an anomoly or this reduced AC output is normal. Thus, I don't know that I want to risk another $20+ to try another one in my bathroom. I do know that if I had it to do over again, I never would have installed this timer.

The other versions (non 6515...) do not work with Halogen energy-saving bulbs; they require 40W of power to trigger the switch (most Halogen only draw 11W). This unit (6515M) switches regardless of load, and therefore are great for Halogen.
