Works as advertised with a nice gradual dimming affect as ambient light increases and turns off completely when I turn on the ceiling light nearby.
The size I would compare to a lighted 3-way switch so does take a fair amount of space in the box but not excessive. Push-in terminals are nice but I used 12 ga. wire throughout the house so had to use the screw terminals. Front is flush with switchplate.
One change I would make (If I had a choice in my application) would be to mount it lower, at receptacle level rather than wall switch level. While much better than the almost blinding P&S it can be a slight annoyance closer to eye level. I have had several people walk through the house and immediately ask my why there is a light there, so it does stand out a bit at that level also.
Bottom line I would buy again.
Great light level at night, so no need to turn on the overhead lights at night,
Look very nice,
They stay on dimly during the day if no lights on in my dark stairway, may be possible to adjust the light detect level,'
I put them on a switch to turn off when traveling so I haven;t investigated that
The Pass and Seymour version has been my favorite due to the amount of light they put out, but I'm the first to admit that they're too much for your standard wall mount installation at a low wall outlet heights (where I'm using the half light / single receptacle version).
But I picked up one of these to install in my garage entrance, near the light switches.
I like the finished look of this Leviton version better than the P&S "clear lens" styling -- this feature really makes the device discrete during the day. At night, the three LEDs behind the opaque face shine as distinct points of light, rather than the (hopeful) even glow reminiscent of the flat electroluminescent type nightlights.that plug in to a wall outlet.
The photo eye on this light is fantastic -- much better than Pass & Seymour -- to where the lights cuts on/off instantly at the appropriate lighting threshold, which is preset but seems about right. Unlike the Pass & Seymour, this light is either on or off -- none of that varying brightness nonsense (don't know if that's a feature or a defect).
So IF you're looking for an "about right" amount of nightlighting that doesn't tax the sleep-adjusted eyeballs, this may be it. If you want something brighter, pass on this and pick the Pass & Seymour offering.
