Amazon Verified Purchase
The manufacturer's description on Amazon.com claimed (and still does as of this writing) that this 6560M switch is "ideal for . . . exhaust fans", and the directions inside the package say so too -- but it is not. Connected to a normal bathroom exhaust fan, the fan runs slowly and hums with this switch. I called Leviton and they told me this switch is not, in fact, suitable for exhaust fans, and that their enclosed directions only say it is because they use the same directions for multiple models (!). Leviton said to use the identical-looking 6260M switch instead, which I did and it worked fine.

Don't buy this type of switch for a ceiling fan.
I bought this to control a ceiling fan in my bathroom and it caused it to buzz/humm. It was very annoying and unacceptable. The fan is a standard type of 3 speed fan with a pull chain, not the electronic speed/remote control type.
I ended up buying an Intermatic brand switch that has the rotary knob and it works perfect.
