4.0 out of 5 stars Recessed Duplex Receptacle
Does what it is supposed to do. Ideal behind a wall-mounted flatscreen. Be sure to connect a ground pigtail, or you won't have a grounded outlet like with a regular duplex receptacle, since there is no ground strap.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too hard to install
The single receptacle one was easier. This one is very hard to jam into the outlet box, cheap plastic casing with start to fall apart around screw when installing, and push-in wire tabs are too small to accomdate the wires, so had to use screw terminals.

This item works well for mounting flat screen TVs, allowing that conventional AC plug to fit neatly behind the screen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Plasma TV Power, February 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I installed this recessed outlet behind my wall mounted plasma TV. It provided more depth to allow the heavy duty TV power cable to not interfere with the TV being flush mounted to the wall. The black color matched the open J-box accesoried hole in the omnimount bracket that I used and unlike an almond or white outlet, it's nearly invisible.

I was afraid that the plastic would be thin and brittle. No sir! It was nice and thick. Went to the local hardware store for my romex cable and say a similar unit there for the same price (minus tax).

I needed to use this in conjunction with an Arlington recessed box in order to get a long, straight plug recessed enough to mount a TV as tight against the wall as I wanted. Solved my problem.

Worked great for in-wall placement for my wall-mount flat screen. I bought something similar from another manufacturer for a previous installation, but didn't like as much as this one.

I bought a number of these recessed receptacles and just love them. I use them behind my flatscreen TV and in the kitchen behind appliances that are close to the wall. The only caution I could give you, is to make sure that you have enough clearance on your plug. The two edges closest to the screws is where they get extremely close. As long as you have standard plugs. They should work just fine. You will be very happy with this purchase.

The receptacle worked very well for my purpose of recessing the plug behind a flat screen TV. One does not need all the speaker connections etc in the usual mount because they more naturally should be connected below to the reciever! Then the cables run throught the wall to reach the TV above. Other boxes serve that purpose.

If you have a slim-mount for your big-screen TV, it means you don't have much room between the back of your TV and the wall for the necessary wires and cabling. This recessed outlet helps quite a bit because even an inch or two makes a difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Double check mounting box first, January 10, 2012

Nice receptacle, good quality. I used a typical deep "existing-work" PVC single-gang box, but the outlet did not fit in the box due to the small plastic reinforcement nodules within the top and bottom of the box. I used a chisel to cut out the bottom reinforcements and then it fit just fine.

I can't hold that against the outlet though, but something to keep in mind. I marked it 4-stars out of 5, since 4 is classified as "I like it", and 5 means "I love it"... to be honest, it is hard to "love" an outlet, and it met my expectations.
