1.0 out of 5 stars flimsy buttons break within a year
Looks good, works great until the tiny plastic tabs on the back of the buttons that hold them to the switch receptacle start to break off. This is with once or twice daily use, not an unusual load.

Using tiny plastic bits as functional parts that take stress is a bad design idea.

Too bad, because i was really happy with this product.

This is a nice product that works well and is easy to install IF you know a few things up front.

I installed three of the timers. The first one took 45 minutes, the second 15 minutes, and the third 5 minutes. This is not the products fault other than it could have a little better directions. I am not an electrician but I do some easy handyman tasks around the house like putting in these switches. So for the non-electricians here are a couple of tips that might save you some time - most of these have a DUH! factor but I am listing them just in case.

My installation was for three bathroom exhaust fans in a one year old house. Two were two switch, one was a three switch.

Things to note:

1) A couple of other reviews mention that this product MUST have a third wire to work - this is true. None of my existing switches use this third wire so I thought I was out of luck until I looked closer. There were some white (cream) colored wires in the switch box which were indeed the third wire. These white wires were stubbed and all I had to do was take off the twist connector, attach the timer's third wire, and put the connector back on.

2) The timer comes with an extra wide metal facing that I am sure is needed for some usages, but when putting on a wall switch the extra metal can be removed for easier installation. Using pliers you can bend the extra metal off at the grooves that the product comes with. I took off the extra metal on both sides to get it down to the size of a wide on/off switch. It takes 30 seconds to remove the extra metal.

3) Be sure to turn of the electricity. I have done things like this without doing so, but for this you really need to because the timer has external wires to connect rather than having posts on the timer to attach the wires. The is not a big deal, but the switch box gets VERY full and if you want a neat installation you will want to position the wires before cramming the timer back in. When moving around this much wire inside of a box, it is important to turn off the juice.

4) I ended up taking out the other switch (leaving on the wires, I just unscrewed it from the box) to make getting to the third wire easier and to allow for a neater installation.

Once I did the above (see what I mean about the DUH factor) I was able to do the third timer in 5 minutes.

Overall timer seems like a quality product that works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great energy savings device for the master bathroom, January 1, 2007

I often find that my wife and I turn on the master bathroom fan and lihts, but we forget to come back and turn them off.

This timer is a perfect solution to both problems. It replaces a regular wall switch and gives you five buttons: 60 minutes, 30 minutes, 20, and 10 minutes, and off. After the appropriate period, the switch turns off automatically.

In an effort to save energy, I've replaced the light switches in all my bathrooms and in the garage with these.

The only downside is a very slight clicking noise when you turn the switch on or off, as the relay kicks in. The noise isn't annoying, but you should know about it before you buy.

These timers are great for bathrooms, closets, and garages. I have used these in my houses for years and I've always been satisfied. When you do the cost to benefit ratio, they don't pay off too quickly if you're using low wattage light bulbs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm, December 5, 2009

I bought two Leviton 612-6260M timers and installed for exhaust fans in two different bathroom, its been working like a charm for two months.

The instructions are not easy to understand. These timers require that you have a ground and a neutral at the switch location. This is an important detail that you should investigate before you buy these switches. If you just have a switch leg in the box, i.e. the hot leg only which would be two blacks or a black and a white thats marked, then this timer will not work properly.

The only issue I see is for people that have shallow junction boxes, this switch is very large, that combined with all the wire nuts and you'll be lucky if you can install it at all with a shallow box. Overall, i am happy with this product and waiting for the price to drop to install in remaining bathrooms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome timer switch for bathroom fan, November 26, 2009

We have been using this timer for 4 years and it's been very useful and completely reliable. Taking a shower deposits a lot of moisture on the walls and this timer helps us run the fan past the point that we've left the room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ease of installation is the key, October 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Purchased this unit to provide timing control for a newly installed bathroom ceiling fan. The ease of operation is as advertised, the design fits right in with a modern look, but the installation effort is what I mostly am judging this device upon. It passed the test easily.

The directions are very straightforward, and even though as with most newer homes the wiring color codes can be different than noted in the provided instructions, the pictorial views made the connection of the wiring very easy. We were pleased enough that we ordered two additional units subsequently for our other bath fans. As mentioned in another review, once you've done the install once (and the first switch took me 20 min), the next two took only 10 - 15 min or so each (mostly running back and forth to the switch box in the basement). All needed wire nuts were supplied as well as a wall plate (though we added this to a double box and used our own wood wall plates). Electrical tape to secure the wire nut connections (I'm a safety freak) were all that I needed to add to the installation process beyond the instructions.

Being installed for less than a month only time will confirm the workmanship and longevity of the units, but so far we're very pleased and would recommend these units especially for bathroom exhaust fans to remove unwanted moisture.

we looked for the electronic timer in stores in our area and couldnt find a timer that was simple to use till we searched the internet. This is perfect and easy to install, much better than what we could find at hardware stores. Highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fan timer..., February 28, 2009
Providing your switch box has the feed plus ground in it this timer wires up well and works. If the feed is in your ceiling fan (should you want it for a bathroom) your switch box does not have the right lines in it. Namely this device wants black and white lines plus ground and the two lines up to the fan ie more black and white lines. These requirements seem strange. I had all the right lines in my switch box.
