This review is from: The Lewis and Clark Columbia River Water Trail: A Guide for Paddlers, Hikers, and Other Explorers (Paperback)
I purchased this well done guide book of Lewis and Clark's travel down the Columbia River and their return, from the stand point of a paddler or hiker and others trying to become more familiar with their travels, to accompany the book "River of Promise". The book, with maps, pictures and descriptions of the river and landmarks along the way provide a great vision of what Lewis and Clark encountered. The chapters are divided ito progressive regions of the river with detailed maps , photos of today and the past as the river periodically changed, descriptions in blue of local parks, islands, towns and the facilities or campsites t each location and the distances to each one. The author describes what is at each stopping point and what the Lewis and Clark company did or encountered at every stop or turn. The book also includes historic drawings from the company's period and even photographs such as a photo of a recently discoveredJefferson Peace Metal that was found in an indian burial. A wonderful book whether you plan to paddle, hike, drive along the way or to visualize while reading of Lewis & Clark's travel along the Columbia.
