4.0 out of 5 stars Travel Locks
These locks worked well on suitcases. As stated, you can use your own combinations and reset the locks if they have been opened by the TSA. This is a nice feature because it lets you know if your luggage has been opened. We purchased several of these locks in hopes to use it on our ski cases but the shafts were not long enough to fit through the holes on the hard case.

1.0 out of 5 stars Finicky Locking Mechanism...

Purchased 4 of these little guys; they looked like they were solid, and useful. When I opened up the first one, I went through the steps of setting a new combination; and the combination did not stick. I could continue to rotate the head of the lock to set a new combination, but i could never pull the head back out and swivel it back to actually use it as a lock...

1.0 out of 5 stars Finicky Locking Mechanism..., February 4, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Purchased 4 of these little guys; they looked like they were solid, and useful. When I opened up the first one, I went through the steps of setting a new combination; and the combination did not stick. I could continue to rotate the head of the lock to set a new combination, but i could never pull the head back out and swivel it back to actually use it as a lock.

The second lock I pulled out set right the first time, but being curious as to why the first lock wouldn't set a new combination, I went to reset the second lock again. This time, it reacted the same way as the first. It is stuck with the lock head facing the wrong way (where i can turn it back and forth to set a new combination) - but no matter what, a new combination is not set, and I can't get it to work.

I was very disappointed, and have requested a refund of all four locks (I don't even want to attempt to use the other unopened ones). I wish I had a better lock to suggest, but unfortunately, I'm still in the market for a good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lewis and Clark Luggage Lock, May 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This lock worked like a dream. It was so easy to set, and I never had any problems with it. Plus, we used it to not only lock our luggage while flying, but also locked our valuable items in the suitcase while we were away from our hotel room. (Not all items would fit in the hotel safe). It worked GREAT! In fact, my entire family is now going to buy them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Safe travel, March 13, 2008
The Lewis and Clark travel lock serves its purpose well. The lock is easy to set and use. I ordered mine after friends had their backpack raided. One lost a passport and camera, the other a makeup kit. While the lock doesn't assure safe travel, I feel it discourages would-be pickpockets. I would recommend this product over similar products with higher prices.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, July 15, 2008
1) The TSA removes these locks in order to inspect your baggage. They often forget to put the locks back on. The TSA will NOT reimburse you if this happens. So, you will be out the money you paid for the lock AND your luggage will still go thru transport unlocked. No one wins

2) These locks are easily damaged. The number dials get smashed in making them impossible to turn. In most cases you will have to cut the lock off in order to open your bag.

We bought FOUR of these locks for vacation and only ONE made it home from vacation. One of the locks was damaged to the point we had to cut it off and the other two locks were lost in transport (they were on the bags when we left them at the departing airport, but were missing when we picked the bags up).

4.0 out of 5 stars Really nice lock, June 1, 2008
This is a great padlock for keeping your luggage or your laptop securely in its' case, but it's rather heavy...almost too heavy even for my high quality laptop rolling bag, so make sure you're not buying this for some cheap luggage, because it could easily break the lock loops if it gets twisted around too much in transit to your destination!

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job., October 7, 2008

Simple lock. Easy to use. Though, does not appear to stand up to much. I lost one on the flights from TN to Bangkok. I don't know if that was because it was opened and not replaced or if it was broke off. Only lost 1 of 3. I am guessing it was not replaced.

Great product I have a few. They are great for airplanes. TSA can get in but no one else. They also came quick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good travel locks, TSA doesn't cut them off, June 22, 2008
I got these to keep the baggage handlers out of my bags. (This has happened too many times). TSA doesn't cut these off and they are easy to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great locks!, July 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
They are a little expensive, but reliable. I am not sure about the little light that is supposed to switch if your bags have been open. My bags happened to be checked by TSA and opened but the light did not indicate it, I know that because there was a slip inside my bag from TSA saying that they have opened and checked it but the light on the lock was still green. Otherwise these locks have traveled through 12 flights this past month all around the world, and I have not lost anything from my bags!
