Book Description

Lewis & Clark Expedition January 1, 2002
Distributed by the University of Nebraska Press for the University of Idaho Press

This guide equips visitors to the Lewis and Clark country in Idaho who wish to hike and experience the same wild country where Lewis and Clark met the Nez Perce. The trails in this book will take hikers into terrain of forests, mountains, rivers, and meadows that is virtually the same as it was when Lewis and Clark traversed it two centuries ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hike Lewis and Clark's Idaho, August 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hike Lewis and Clark's Idaho (Lewis & Clark Expedition) (Paperback)
We bought the book for a hiking vacation coming up, so we haven't used it yet, but we've used hiking books many times, and I feel this one will be a big help. Be aware that it covers a specific area of Idaho - Route 12 - so you'll want another book if you plan to be elsewhere. Forty-four hikes are described in detail, with directions to each. There are good maps for each hike, a graph of elevation gain and distance, and description of difficulty. The book includes a history of the trails and of the area, and also sections on geology, necessary equipment, and possible dangers to be aware of.
