I bought the Lewis N. Clark Emergency Cell Phone Charger from a military exchange, and please take my advice: Do not buy it.

Unfortunately, I was actually out camping when I discovered that the charger is utterly useless when applied to my Motorola Android, as well as my friend's older model Android. The camping gear website REI also portrays 1-star reviews for this item, and that it is also useless with Apple's i-Phone.

The device comes with a bag of different adapters, including a USB connector which attached perfectly to my Android.

Initially I connected my friend's phone to the charger. The phone stated that it was "charging" so I put it away, only to come back hours later and find that nothing changed. I thought that perhaps the battery was dead so I changed it out three times with new batteries.

After a while the LED light that comes on when charging didn't come on at all when connected to either of our phones. My only thought is that perhaps the Android is too powerful for the charger, essentially terminating the only reason I bought the charger in the first place.

Luckily we were able to send out two frantic phone calls before my friend's phone died.

I will probably never buy a "Lewis and Clark" brand anything ever again. I actually bought this junker with another Lewis and Clark car charger. Perhaps I should go and test-drive it before I find myself needing it.

We purchased one at a Navy exchange and ordered three more online for friends. Not one of them worked on any phone that we tried them on and believe me, we tried every phone and combination we could think of. We tried charging with the phones on and then off. The phone's battery almost seems to run down faster when it's connected to one of the chargers. These are completely worthless junk. I wouldn't give one to a person I don't like, let alone to a friend. How embarrassing. We are furious.
