I am a frequent kayaker and have many friends with small sailboats under 20 feet. I previously used the super hooker danforth or fortress style anchor. This was a 2.5 pounder, but did not hold worth a darn. The shank lengths are the same, but the claw is 4.4 pounds. For me this is not an issue. The amount of great holding pays off. This anchor sets quicker and easier in more bottom types than the grapnel, mushroom, or danforth with higher holding power.
This anchor is a great buy, and works superbly. It has better holding power than any other small craft anchor in more bottoms, without being big and bulky. Plus it has no sharp flukes that could puncture an inflatable.

The anchor works great but I think the company that manufactures the anchor needs to weigh it. The weight according to UPS was a little over 20 pounds not the 22 the company states.

We use these 11 lb. anchors to set sailboat race marks in Commencement Bay, Tacoma WA. We have conditions that are challenging as we set marks in depths to 600 feet and currents up to 4 knots. In 50 knots of wind I've seen our race marks stay put with these anchors, backed by 4 feet of 5/16" chain, 3/8 inch double braid nylon line with a short scope of 2 to 1 or less. We also have wind shifts that complicate things and would cause other styles of anchors to pull and not reset. I have a 33 lb version on my own 39' sailboat as my working anchor and wouldn't have anything else.

As an avid recreational kayaker, this anchor is excellent. Whether alone or w/ a bunch of friends, I'm able to drop this anchor and tie on as many as kayaks as desired (7 is the most that have been used at once to date), and it holds them even during strong tidal changes. And it was less expensive and heavy than the previous mushroom anchor that I was using. Great VALUE, and it's so light that it can be carried on any kayak, canoe or john boat w/out affecting the weight! Thanks!

Got to use this anchor in an area that the tide allways pulls other anchors loose, and this one worked great, it is some what pricey with shipping, but it works

Fairly good holding power on 44ft sailboat in hard sand. Not good holding in muddy conditions or seagrass. Heavy galvanizing. looks hot dipped galvanized.
