5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent 600x Card, May 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lexar 32GB Professional 600x CompactFlash Card (Electronics)
As I have written in reviews of the comparable Sandisk 600x CF cards, the Lexar offerings in this speed regime serve the same primary purpose: As image file sizes increase with successive camera generations, high write speeds are steadily more important in keeping the memory buffer clear during rapid shooting, so that the camera isn't halted while waiting for file write operations to complete. If your shooting does not include big RAW files and high shutter cyclic speeds, I couldn't recommend the expense of these 600x cards. But if you have to shoot RAW at full-auto speeds, they are simply worth what they cost. Using slower cards, I have been stopped during bursts of 10 or so ~25MB RAWs; with these 600x cards, never.

In some detailed reviews I have read, the speeds of the Lexar and Sandisk 600s are not identical, but in practice I can't tell any difference between them, so for me they are interchangeable. Both serve me well.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite memory card, August 11, 2011

I know these memory cards are expensive, but memory cards are not an area where I am willing to cut corners. I need my camera to be fast for numerous reasons. When I shoot HDR, I'm really testing the buffer. Or when I'm shooting an event, I do not want my buffer to get full and prevent me from getting that great shot. I am super careful about making sure I've downloaded my images so that I don't accidentally format I card with data on it, and that does require an extra set of cards. I invested in one of those digital suitcases to hold my images, and I just haven't become comfortable with it yet. I trust my memory cards more.

Bottom line, my images are worth the investment in awesome memory cards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, Fast, Well Worth It, September 4, 2011
This review is from: Lexar 32GB Professional 600x CompactFlash Card (Electronics)
Pros: High Capacity, Solid, Far faster than competitors
Cons: None

Summary: I purchased this card prior to an 8-day trip to Hawaii and took hundreds of photos without replacing the card or having an issue of any kind in my Canon 1Ds. I used it in conjunction with Lexar's Expresscard reader with my Macbook Pro, and I've never had an easier time offloading pictures. The most impressive feature was the writing time; I'm accustomed to shooting RAW, seeing a screen briefly state "Busy ..." before having the chance to review the histogram and image preview. With this card, the response seemed instant. I've used other (lower capacity) Lexar Professional cards without issue, but the cost per gigabyte and performance of this blow the others away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Fast Storage Media, January 19, 2011

I purchased this memory card after a lot of research. It proved to be the perfect choice for my Olympus E-30. Teamed with the Lexar Professional Card Reader, it made my latest 12 MP cruise photos both fast to store and fast to download.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good card but..., July 2, 2010

The card is good but doesn't make things any faster than a 30mb/s card in my D700. Works fast in the 7D.

I've been using Lexar Pro cards for years now, and I've never had a problem with any of them. When working with my Canon pro cameras, I often take a thousand or more photos a day. These cards are fast. With many hundreds of files on a card, I use USB3 readers, and these cards unload much quicker than my older, slower cards. I can't say definitively that Lexar cards are better quality than other brands, but in the hours before I can get to my computer to backup my photos, I need peace of mind that my data is safe, and the Lexar brand gives me that.

The product seems to be holding up pretty well. I'm not a professional photographer though. So take my review for what it is from a serious amateur point of view. I recently graduated into the digital photography world with a Canon 5D Mk II w/ a 24-105mm 4.0 L lens, and a 580 EX II flash.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Performance, December 31, 2011

Great pro performance (speed) from 32GB of storage. No issues so far when bursting at 8fps, I get around 15 shots per burst writing uncompressed RAW frames. Download speed is good too. Nice product, thanks Lexar.
