*UPDATED BELOW (find out why I dropped a star!)*

I bought this drive to store a backup copy of Final Cut Studio on, and so far I have absolutely no complaints! After losing a DVD once and having to wait a couple of weeks to install FCP on a new computer, I decided to make a backup copy of my DVDs. That's over 50GB of DATA! Now a couple of years ago, I would have needed an external hard-drive to store that much data, but now all I do is keep this little drive in a safe in case it's ever needed! I did a test install of FCP Studio from this drive and I would say that it was a little faster than DVD...although no objective measurements were taken.

PROS
- Tiny drive for a huge amount of storage
- Has been working very well for months
- As fast as any other regular USB 2.0 drive
- Seems well built, mechanism is not cheap

CONS
- Not any faster than a regular USB 2.0 drive (despite being a newer drive)
- A little pricey ($1/GB) but no more so than other manufacturers

OVERALL
If you need high capacity storage, or you travel with a lot of data, this is an excellent choice. Research before purchasing has shown a very low failure rate, and reviews across the web are mostly positive. Lexar has been making portable storage for years, and they do so very well!

*UPDATE*
Well, I have now had this drive for around 7-8 months, and it is still performing well. After putting my Final Cut Pro backup on a hard-drive, this has become my daily use USB drive that I use to bring files to and from work, and to share data with clients (I'm a wedding photographer - I normally have about 10-15GB of files for each client). I say all that to say that even with near-daily use, this drive continues to hold up.

Besides being made of loose fitting plastic with a really cheap feel and sliding action, mine totally died after the warranty expired. Lexar seems to get poor reviews for their products, I will never buy from this company ever again. Highly recommend you look elsewhere if you want a quality product that lasts.

I bought this product as a transfer disk used in syncing my two main computers. Worked fine but after 9 months of daily use, it became unreliable. The disk would become unreadable after being in the machine. Now, the PCs will not recognize the drive at all. Normally I would migrate to bigger disks as they filled up but this one quit.

I would consider reliability to be rather poor.

The product worked well at first, but after a couple of months started disconnecting from my computer. It takes several attempts to connect it and then it spontaneously disconnects. Occasionally it stays connected if I actually manually hold it in place. Very frustrating and disappointing when one needs to rely on a flash drive for work.

Have had several Lexar drives and they always worked reasonably well in the past, but maybe that was b/c I kept upgrading so often I didn't have time to notice their shortcomings. In any case with the more expensive, higher-capacity (32GB+) models their true quality (or lack thereof) has finally shown through. I have owned several dozen jump drives over the last 6 years, and ALL of them are still functional with the exception of the high-capacity Lexar ones. Bought a 32GB Lexar twist-and-snap model (LJDTT32G) which stopped connecting to my computer consistently, but whose contents I was able to salvage before switching to a more stable drive. The 64GB LJD270, however, simply stopped working altogether after only 2.5 months of use. Sorry, Lexar, never buying any of your storage devices again.

This USB drive became very unreliable after a few weeks. It appears to be due to poor build quality or bad connections. I can occasionally get it to work if I plug it in just right, but it's basically useless.

I received about 20 of these at my work. The first one worked fine, lasted about 2 days before it just stop being recognized by any PC. Tried the next one, it didn't even allow me to open it and gave me (insert x into x computer). A bad batch perhaps?

Purchased this on April 25, 2012 and everything worked great out of the box. Great storage and speed was decent and better than most flash drives.

After almost 4 weeks of moderate use, the drive stopped working all together. I initially thought it was my computer, and tried the drive on multiple machines. Once plugged in, nothing would happen... no lights at all. I will be returning this for a refund and looking for an alternate brand name USB drive.
