5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, safe, fast
I bought this product because my experience with Lexar Jumpdrives has been excellent. My data backs up fast and easy and I feel safe that I won't lose my important documents. This is the only brand of drives I feel confident with.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but has some limitations
This works OK, but I had problems with the Mac software. Also, the "meter" on the side is useless if you encrypt the drive since it shows the whole drive full. I went back to using TrueCrypt freeware. It works much better cross-platform and you can use it on any drive (no need to pay extra for a secure drive).

Worth the price just for the security software that will work on other jump drives. If you have ever lost a drive with sensitive information on it then this is what you need.

I really didn't need another one, but when my son asked me to get one for him, I doubled the order because the price was right.
I still use the original, and it never hurts to have a backup.
This particular model comes with a couple of pieces of software that I had no need of. A simple delete and the drive is back to full capacity.
Lexar Jumpdrives have never given me any trouble. They do what they are supposed to do, and are about as convenient a tool as one could want.
Carry an image to a print shop, share a file, save a file before an edit ... all that stuff is simplified.
They work well ... buy one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yep, its a thumb drive., June 19, 2008
This review is from: Lexar 1GB Jumpdrive Secure II Plus JDSEP1GB-431 (Personal Computers)
As far as thumb drives go, this one is pretty good. Data transfer speeds are quick, and it comes with encryption software which could come in handy if you want to protect sensitive data. The cap clicks on pretty tight, and its unlikely to come off accidentally. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it could be a little more compact, and a little cheaper. Also, mine has an ink smear on the meter, but its still readable and works fine. My packaging did not include a ring to attach it to my keyring.

As an aside, the capacity meter is a neat gimmick, though its probably only useful if you work at a helpdesk and have several of these things laying around. Also, the meter will be blank until you load data on it - a full meter indicates a full drive. Threw me off at first.
