A CF card is best rated after a period of time...,

But I'll review this one now.
I bought this card originally to be used in a Canon 5D (classic) to attempt to speed up the write time when I shoot in RAW. While the write times were marginally better than my 233X Kingston CF cards it wasn't enough to make a difference. But I believe this to be the cameras doing not the Lexar card. I recently purchased a Canon 7D (from Amazon) and tried both cards in it. The Lexar write times are noticeably faster with the 600x Lexar as compared to the 233x Kingston. Very Cool! So if you have a newer DSLR give the Lexar a try, it will speed up your shooting and downloading.

Card failed, unrecoverable photos, within six weeks of purchase,

The Good: This 8gb, 600x card writes fast. When shooting continuous, high-speed sequences in RAW on a 7d the card clears the buffer very fast.
The Bad: The life of this card was disappointingly short. It lasted about six weeks before it was unreadable by both camera and computer. Image Rescue 4 software, which is included with the card, recovered exactly ZERO of the 100's of photos on the card. Not only are the images irretrievable, but the card is unusable too: neither my camera nor computer are able to reformat the card. That makes me wonder if the problem is a hardware failure and not just a corrupt FAT file.

I purchased two of these cards to replace a pair of 133x Lexar CF cards for my Nikon D3. The camera is noticeably faster when going from shooting to playback (it may only be a second or two, but when you need to check shots, it seems like forever). I am LOVING the speed of this card in my USB3.0 reader. I'm not a pro, but it isn't unusual to come back from an event and have 200-300 photos. I used to start the import, then go get a cup of coffee, now it takes less than a minute to download a couple hundred RAW images.

I have used this card 4 times, and on the fourth time it corrupted. I think I'll stick to San Disk.

This is the first time I use a product from Lexar. I bought this CF card because nobody else sold a 8gb CF card with a high writing speed rate. I bought it to use with my new Canon EOS 7D which is a 18mp camera featuring 8FPS so there's a lot of data to write and you don't want to wait too much before the camera is ready again for shooting.
I'm impressed with the speed and reliability of this card. I can keep shooting without seeing any "Busy" message from the camera and it makes me work faster. Downloading the pictures to my PC is also a fast process given the high read speed rate of this flash card. I would definitely buy this card again if I had to. Actually I'm planning to buy a second unit in case I run out of space.

One unexplainable glitch, but otherwise very good,

I got both this Professional UDMA and a Delkin 8 GB CombatFlash (CF) PRO 625X UDMA Memory Card DDCFCOMBAT-8GB for a trip to Kenya. I had a bit of trouble with the Delkin (read my product review on the corresponding page), which ended up on the Olympus E-30, while the Lexar equipped my older Olympus E-520. They both worked well on their respective cameras. Eventually, the E-30 became my main photo tool and the E-520 went into the backpack with a slower Lexar Compact Flash card and a full battery.
On one photo safari the Delkin was already quite full when there was a fantastic flurry of activity from cheetahs. My Delkin card ran out of space; I quickly popped the Lexar Pro UDMA into the E-30 and continued shooting. On the third frame the E-30 choked. A message on the screen told me the camera was writing to the card and the corresponding red light blinked. This just went on and on. On the verge of missing out on a great photo op, I placed the E-30 aside, retrieved the E-520 from the bag and continued shooting. Luckily the action waited for me. After it was over, I looked at the E-30 and it was still writing to the card. I turned it off but it continued. Eventually I removed the battery to make the loop stop. Fearful of having this happen again in another crucial moment, I never used the Lexar Pro on the E-30 again. I don't know if this was a camera or card issue. The E-30 had no problems with any other cards, and the Lexar Professional still functions perfectly on the E-520. Otherwise, it's a fine card. I own several Lexar CF and SDHC cards and they all perform well. Write speeds (in a non-loop situation) are quick and the transfer speeds are noticeably better than with other, slower cards.

Very good seller. The item was shipped very quickly compared to the shipping time I read in the order. The only bad thing were the taxes I had to pay for the Italian Custom, due to the shipment with Fedex (this happen only with Fedex). Apart this it was a good buying experience that I recommend to others.
