With fast shooting high mega pixel digital cameras, the CF card can be a major performance factor, especially now that many DSLR cameras include video capture. Why purchase a DSLR camera and use a slow CF card? I'd rather take advantage of a high performance CF card than become frustrated with shutter slowdowns and time consuming image transfers. Is the Lexar Professional 1000x CF card a good match for my Canon EOS 7D?

The Lexar Professional 1000x CF cards use UDMA 7 (Ultra Direct Mode Access 7) technology to read at 150 mb/sec, write at 145 mb/sec, and has a maximum transfer rate of up to 167MB/sec. These fast read/write speeds are desirable with large image files, especially when there are many. Plus cameras typically use buffer memory to hold images while writing to the card during continuous shots. At some point, if the card cannot write fast enough, the camera will stop shooting until the buffer clears enough room for more images.

Shooting L-Raw + L-jpg, I was able to take 84 consecutive shots before the camera buffer started filling up with the Lexar Professional 1000x CF card. Doing the same test on my older SanDisk Ultra II CF card, I was able to shoot 13 shots, Then on my SanDisk Ultra IV CF card, I was able to shoot 44 consecutive shots. The Lexar Professional 1000x CF card also supports shooting in VPG-20 for professional quality video.

Using this with the D800E. At purchase of the camera, I bought the 600x version, thinking that is all I need and would be fine with waiting for the upload on to the computer. I didn't think the difference would be significant, going by the numbers listed here:

Well, there was a special they ran for this 1000x and decided to just add more cards to my collection. The difference in read/write/upload/download is certainly noticible. This is the cream of the crop as far as CF cards. Love it and won't go back.

Bought these to tide me through a 11-day trip in Taiwan.

Certainly lives up to its expectations. Good transfer speeds and no glitches/errors. Works as expected!

Wouldn't recommend any other brands if you were looking for a 1000x CF card. One of the fastest around.

I am a wedding photographer and use these in my 5D mark iii. I've had issues with Sandisk cards in the past where they will work in the camera but I can't export to my computer. Never had this problem with the Lexar cards. I like knowing that this product will not fail me on the job. I use them for about 2 seasons then replace them just because I use them so often. Worth the money and peace of mind knowing nothing is going to happen to my client's images!

This card has worked great for the past 11 months, but I just had the dreaded telltale memory card failure happen during a shoot last night with my 5D Mark III. Thankfully it was on the very last shot instead of the very first shot. The image can't be downloaded either directly through drag and drop or via lightroom, and a screen grab of the RAW file shows colorful horizontal lines in a box on 1/4 of the image- the same thing that happened with two older cards that failed a couple of years ago. This card is only 11 months old, and although I do recognize that all memory cards will fail over time, I'd expect it to last longer than 11 months. I'm still wading through the warranty information on the Lexar website to try and find the address I need to mail the card to. I have a second identical card I bought at the same time and now I'm wondering about it too. Sigh...

Purchased a couple of these cards, shot with them, then tried to transfer the images to my computer using my Lexar USB-2 reader. Did NOT work, and it appeared I was corrupting the data and at risk of losing my pictures.

Contacted Lexar support, and they informed me that these super-fast cards require a compatible card reader. I purchased this: Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader (LRW300URBNA)

With the included recovery software, I was able to recover my images, and I trust these cards will read properly in the future.

So, be sure you have a compatible card reader to properly use these cards.

I have been very pleased with the flash card. I use one in each of the professional cameras
that I use and they are very reliable and the pictures are clear and focused.
I recommend them highly.

I ordered two double-packs of these cards and am blown away by how fast the files capture and then transfer to my computer. The cards are for my new Nikon D800 (36mp camera which shoots video too) and the file sizes are huge! So the new cards work fast and keep up seamlessly. I strongly recommend these cards for professional photographers...it's an overkill for the average consumer.
