The speed difference is visible, December 20, 2008
This review is from: Lexar Professional Series 4 GB 300x UDMA CompactFlash Memory Card CF4GB-300-381 (Personal Computers)
Despite the price difference -- UDMA cards are a lot more expensive than regular CompactFlash --, after a lot of research I decided it was worth giving this Lexar card a try. I already own a couple of Lexar 133x CF and SDHC cards and know, from experience, how good the brand is.
My particular need in photography are good burst mode and fast transfer rates, and the Lexar UDMA delivers. I've taken maybe 300 photos with it and feel that, overall, it does improve the camera speed in writing images (which affects burst rate). But the more noticeable difference to me so far is how fast the images are downloaded into the computer. With an UDMA card reader (in my case, the
ATP AF-CRMBK-MV1 Multislot PROMAX USB2.0 UDMA Card Reader -Retail (Black), which has proven to be a fantastic investment -- read review in the product's page if you are interested) I download hundreds of hi-res images in less than a third of the time it takes me to do the same operation with a regular card + reader.
I still have to use this card more and observe its performance better -- the problem being that when you're chasing a bird you're not really focusing on the memory card! --, but so far I can say that it is a lot faster than non-UDMA memory cards. If you're looking at buying one of these, make sure beforehand that your camera and card reader are compatible with UDMA, that is, that they really will benefit from its advantages. Otherwise it'll just work like a normal CompactFlash card, but with a higher price tag.

Great CF, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Lexar Professional Series 4 GB 300x UDMA CompactFlash Memory Card CF4GB-300-381 (Personal Computers)
This is a fantastic CompactFlash card, but be sure to order the Firewire 800 card reader. The card allows the camera to record very quickly, but getting large files off the card is much easier with a Firewire reader. Works flawlessly with a Mac.

Lexar CF Cards, July 19, 2010
This review is from: Lexar Professional Series 4 GB 300x UDMA CompactFlash Memory Card CF4GB-300-381 (Personal Computers)
I've used Lexar CF cards for 10 years, and they've functioned flawlessly. They're tough, durable, easy to use and the value (storage space) for the dollar is incredible. Ten years ago I paid almost $200 for a 1GB card. Now I'm getting 4 times the space for 25% of the cost. . . bgs.
