5.0 out of 5 stars Super fast for 80X Cards
If you are looking for a way to get the data out of a high speed compact flash card, this is your answer. It can download 3.5GB from a Lexar 4GB WA Write Accelleration card in about 7 minutes. My old card took 35 minutes to do the same thing.

The unit is very well made, and the contacts are protected by a spring-loaded cover which protects each individual pin...

I've been confident w/ buying Lexar equipment for some time now, and this CF reader does what it says. Writing and reading data appears to be relatively fast - important when I need to transfer data quickly in my job. The heavy duty plastic holding case is also nice because it does travel with me. The negative comes in for product manuals and help. The manual is...

I can't find anything to complain about for this product, so I give it 5 Stars.

I previously had a "standard" 16 Bit SanDisk card reader, and WOW what a difference. The old 16 Bit card reader took me almost an hour to dump my 2GB card. The 32Bit one can get it done in less than 10 minutes!

If you need to copy Compact Flash cards to your laptop as fast as possible, and don't have a USB2 port, this is an absolute MUST!

Much better than the older technology of the previous card reader I had. Fast and reliable.

Highly recommended, I would buy again and recommend to anyone with a laptop as best way to get compact flash pictures into their laptop.

Writing and reading data appears to be relatively fast - important when I need to transfer data quickly in my job. The heavy duty plastic holding case is also nice because it does travel with me. The negative comes in for product manuals and help. The manual is essentially useless if you have any questions beyond basic installation. I had a quick question about this product and placed a call to the Lexar tech line - and was repeatly told to format my card no matter the description of the problem or the question I had. And this was the standard response of the three different techs I talked to.

Another vote of confidence here. Since switching to RAW, I would dread the long downloads with my Sandisk PC card reader. What a blessing to have found the Lexar Cardbus Adapter! It's probably 4 times as fast as my old card reader when using my Sandisk Extreme III cards. If you're thinking of buying a PCMCIA adapter and are considering spending $12 less to get a standard PC card reader, stop thinking and buy the Lexar 32-bit instead! I believe in dpreview's tests that these cardbus adapters were basically as fast as firewire--and much more convenient.

This is an absolute necessity for using a DSLR camera today!! Not to be confused with typical cheap PC card adapters, this Cardbus adapter is much faster to download photos....I will not use anything less since I've seen the speed difference. It includes driver software that installs in less than 1 minute, then you're ready to go. Highly recommended!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and easy, July 24, 2006

This product works great. I'm running Windows XP SP2, and it installed easily with the driver off the CD. It is well-made, and the data off my 80x card transfers considerably faster than my old USB reader.

I always have a wish list, so here it is for this product. I wish it came with a blank (dummy) CF card so there isn't a open space to collect dust when my CF card is not in the unit (i.e. most of the time). And, I wish you could eject the CF card without having to remove the whole CF reader, but I don't know mechanically how you could do that given the space constraints.

Overall, I'm very happy with this and am glad I bought it.

This product is very fast once you can get the driver installed. I had a terrible time getting the driver installed, but after getting it done it was worth the effort because it saves my camera battery and is much faster than transfering through USB from my camera.

2.0 out of 5 stars Speed similar to usb2.0/firewire=not good enough, September 18, 2007
This review is from: Lexar Media RW021001 Adapter, Cf 32 Bit Cardbus Adapter (Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
The company's literature for this product states that it has speeds "similar to usb 2.0 and firewire." That does not cut it for me at this price point. I understand it is more portable, etc; but you can get a usb 2.0 reader that uses no cable for much less. If you really need high transfer speeds you're going to want to go with a new firewire 800 reader and pc card that adds between 2-3 ports. They transfer at 40MB/s, of course dependent on your CF card. You would think that with a direct, 60-something pin connection adapters such as these would be the fastest things going... seems like it is not the case.
