5.0 out of 5 stars Works for Magellan Maestro 4700 as well
This screen protector is designed for the Magellan 1470, but when I bought my Maestro 4700 I quickly discovered that there are few options for that device. However, I also discovered that the 1470 and the 4700 have the same size screen (or appeared to, from the specs and the pictures). So I took the chance and I'm glad I did.

The package arrived labeled...

1.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, cheap feeling, thin
This screen protector is absurdly overpriced for what you get. To give you an idea, the material that houses potato chips is thicker. I applied the protector painstakingly, and now one of the corners is peeling off (it has never stuck down) even though I didn't touch it and contaminate it with skin oils. This may have been worth it at 1/3rd the price, and if they gave...

The package arrived labeled "crystal clear", but I had ordered the model that was designed to reduce glare. After a couple of looks at some websites, I decided that the "clear" model and the "glare" model have the same packaging. In any case, this model is the low glare one.

It came with an interesting set of rubber finger gloves - two pieces of rubber that you wear when putting on the protector. I found them uncomfortable, but I only had to use them for a couple of minutes. These will eliminate fingerprints under the protector. Excellent addition.

Otherwise the packaging was pretty much normal. It had a tab to make separation of the backing easier, and a small cloth to clean the GPS screen, plus a small cardboard piece designed to smooth out any bubbles.

The protector went on with a couple of large bubbles, but the cardboard piece worked really well, and now the protector has a smooth finish.

In actual use I find it to be quite good at reducing glare without blocking too much clarity of the screen. One loses a small amount of brightness, but it is not really a significant amount. I can still see some items reflected in the screen, but nothing like when used without the protector, and not to the amount that they interfere with seeing the GPS display.

Overall, a good device, and worth the cost.

Don't get this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lexerd anti-glare review, April 30, 2010

I've used the protector for about a month now. It's was easy to apply and it does help with reducing daytime glare. I notice however that at nightime driving the GPS screen can reflect off the dash on to the windshield, This can be distracting so I have to adjust the GPS angle to prevent this. Even with this I'm satisfied with the product.
