Lexmark 12A1980 Color Inkjet Print Cartridge

This is a nice color ink jet cartridge (it's the only one I can use for my Lexmark Z11). It has nice color and performs well for the average home / light business user.

However, it doesn't last very long and sometimes it doesn't even use all of the ink before the printer begins sending out error messages about the ink being low. That's why I gave it 3 stars, otherwise I would have been satisfied with it enough to rate it 4 stars.

There is a higher yield cartridge (12A1985 for color, 12A1975 for black) that Lexmark has available for the Z11s and others. But these cartridges are also more expensive.

It also tends to get a bit crumbly with time. But then again, so does some laser inks.

The Lexmark color cartridge is a good product. It serves the purpose, does the job and provides good color quality. I have been very pleased with the work I have put out when using this cartridge.

First on my wish list, however, would be a longer lasting cartridge. I print for pleasure, not business and the amount of printing I do is minimal. The cartridge, however, seems to run low every other month. This is much faster than other printers and cartridges I have had in the past. I would like to see a cartridge that lasts longer so that I can change the title of my review from "Color in, Color out" to "Color in and stays in"!

I now have the Z53 which is totally awesome, but when all I had was my FREE little Z11 I bought a few of these and the output was amazing for such a cheapie printer.

I couldn't get TRUE black but I suspect that was mainly due to the fact that the Z11 is a single cartridge printer.

I did a tremendous amount of printing including a lot of graphics and these cartridges lasted far longer than the specs indicate.

One note: I tried a refill kit and it failed miserably.

Lexmark's waterproof black ink seems to degrade very quickly. After having a cartridge for a few months, the ink starts to smear badly when touched (even after drying for days or weeks). After 3 cartridges, I'm convinced that this is a consistent problem with Lexmark's ink. Unfortunately, with no alternative available, those of us with Lexmark's printers (that use this ink) are stuck with smearing ink, and no help from Lexmark (repeated emails have yielded no interest in resolving the problem. They say "some minor smearing is normal," and don't address the major smearing). The ink is good and can be used with Z11 (the printer I have) . The ink is waterfproof and hasnt given me any problems except that if you are printing transperencies you got to let it dry...otherwise it smears(atleast it did for me).

The colors are crisp and overall I would recomend this( I guess with lexmark you can use only this ink).

Overall a good p[roduct..not that we could buy something else for teh printer ;)

It's a great value for anyone looking for exellent documents and images at an affordable price.The printer it's self is a good value,but it works best with this cartrige.I highly recommend this product to people who want good quality for a good price.

I went through alot of these cartridges! It seems they use ink excessively (even when we were conscious of trying to print in "draft" mode,) and more often than I'd like to count, a new cartridge, just installed, would produce sub-quality prints ... leaving lines through the print, etc. Not happy.

One of my printers uses Lexmark 80 Ink, and this cartridge has stopped selling in stores around me. So I was forced to go online to find new ink. I expected prices to be high and figured I'd be forced to buy a new printer. Instead, I was amazed to see how low the prices were, and even more amazed when I got the cartridge installed and printed out some pages. The quality is amazing. I am very pleased with my purchase, I keep my old printer running, and for only a few bucks, much cheaper than newer ink cartridges.

I bought this cartridge based on the positive reviews by other users. Unfortunately, this cartridge does not work for fully operational Z11 printer. It could be just a piece that I got as other users state it worked for their Z11 printers. I cleaned the printer port with alcohol cleaning wipes (usually do before new cartridge installation) and install this cartridge. It produced a dashed line for the test page. I reinstalled it again-the same effect.
It is less than $4, so I am not sure I will go through the process of returning it-I still might do it if I find time just to point out to the seller about the "quality" of products they distribute.
I prefer to pay higher price for a product that works.

Update: After I e-mailed the vendor (Sima Stylin on Amazon Marketplace) she apologized for not working cartridge and send me the replacement cartridge for free. The new cartridge arrived in 2 days and it worked flawlessly. I would praise the seller that makes everything she can for 100% customer satisfaction. Thank you

Printer cartridge arrived on time, but the cartridge box showed an expired expiration date. I installed it and used it to print 3 times and after that it did not work anymore. Do not buy this or if you do, check the expiration date and return it immediately. I had to leave on a 3 week business trip and forgot about it, until today, when I tried it again.
