Product Description

The Lexmark Z2420 Wireless Color Printer has built-in 802.11 wireless technology so you can print from other locations in your home without being next to your printer. It offers convenience and flexibility while printing up to 25 ppm black or up to 18 ppm color. Print brilliant photos using the optional photo cartridge that allows 6-color printing with a print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi on photo or glossy paper. The Lexmark Productivity Studio software featuring red-eye reduction and color correction helps you manage photo printing through your computer. The Lexmark toolbar makes Internet printing easy, while Scheduled Print, downloadable from Lexmark.com, lets you print from your favorite Web sites.

Update: March 28, 2011. The WiFi no longer works. I have not yet plugged this directly into my computer, but I am very disappointed at the WiFi failure. Granted, it did work for over 2 years, but the work load I put on my printer is very light.

I have been using this printer for some time now, and I am more appreciative of its qualities. I made some adjustments on the software end and now get better print quality. Lexmark also makes large ink cartridges and these last a very long time. I just built a new computer for another room in the house and the connection to this printer was extremely simple. Very nice for a bargain price.

I bought this printer for its WiFi capability, and that works fine. It frees up space at my desk. It was easy to set up and install. This is an economy-priced printer and the color printing is, frankly, inferior to the economy HP inkjet printer I have been using. This printer does have 6-color capability and I have not yet tried that--it requires a different ink cartridge. I suspect I will switch to that when this cartridge runs dry. So this is fine for low-cost wireless printing, but don't expect great color.

I got this printer to print small jobs from my laptop while I'm in my living room, and it's perfect for that. Wireless set up wasn't exactly easy, but it worked out. I use this for one or two page print outs, not for photos or high quality prints. It's perfect for what I needed it for, and inexpensive. I wouldn't recommend it as your only printer, just as a supplement for convenience.
