5.0 out of 5 stars excellent!
I have had this machine a while now, and it has served me well and good--absolutely, no complaints. The price is right (as compaed to those other pricey brands that do the same job more or less). So, go get yourself one--recommended!

We bough our Lexmark x2500 printer primarily because it promised to be a good choice economically. We were mistaken.

The printer is an ink sink. When you put in a new ink cartridge, you are always required to print an "alignment" page. This page is supposed to make sure he printer is printing correctly, and it is not optional. HUGE waste of ink. We are required to have a color ink cartridge in the printer, even though we never use color. Also, our printer went through a glitch phase where ever time we turned our computer off, it thought the printer needed to be "realigned" and made us print a new sheet. Not happy about that.

In addition, the software that comes with he printer leaves much to be desired. The layout and primer boxes are cartoon-like. Ever time you do a print job, a box pops up, and if you're anywhere near low on your ink cartridge, it obnoxiously asks you if you want to order more ink "right away." It's an advertising gimmick, and I can't change my settings to take the thing away.

Scans well. Prints well. Hardware is great. Software is infinitely annoying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good priced all-in-one for those who don't print a lot, September 4, 2011
This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
I used this printer during 7th and 8th grade. It was adequate for my uses then, when I was printing little. By the end of 8th grade I was printing a lot and chewing up ink really fast. The cost of the printer is phenomenal for all it does, but the cartridges are way too expensive. $25 for color and black each! That's $50 to refill both tanks. And when you put a new cartridge in you have to print an alignment page which is a huge waste of ink. Though, I do love the scan function and the lexmark imaging studio software that comes with it, but it won't save things to PDF, it saves to pretty much every other format known to man. Also, what's annoying is that you have to save each page individually, you can't scan in multiple pages and save them as one file. You have to save each one individually then bundle them with a separate software (not included in printer purchase). I do love the easy one-touch black or color copy buttons and the scan to computer button. It has a nice small profile as well. However, the cost of ink totally outweighs all the pros. I've spent about $200 on ink, I could've bought a really nice cannon for that cost. Now I use the lexmark only occasionally, I use my mom's cannon pixma 882 for important stuff, it's an awsome printer. The reason I give the lexmark 3 stars instead of 2 is that it has lasted long and will probably last longer. Can't talk about the fax feature because it wouldn't recognize my wi-fi as a modem so I couldn't set a fax up. Bottom line is, if you want a cheap yet good quality thing just to have on hand and print occasionally, this is for you. If you want to print a lot don't buy this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this piece of crap!, November 24, 2009

This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
Like the other reviewer said, this piece of junk wastes sooooooo much ink doing a completely unnecessary "alignment" page every time you do something except straight photocopying. The scanner function doesn't work properly and the print quality sucks! I am so disgusted with this machine I want to throw it in the trash. It should be called a multi-MALfunction printer!!!
Don't waste your money, get something that actually does a decent job!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Scans well but print problems, October 12, 2011
This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
Bought this for about 45 because I needed a cheap scanner that would work with my Windows Vista laptop (okay this was 4 years ago). Had a Canon MP that stopped feeding paper and wouldnt work with Vista thus the cheap solution. For scanning the X2500 is good.

Printing currently having a problem where it does not recognize the color cartridge. Not the usual says its out of ink problem, just doesn't recognize there is a color cartridge in there, so have to go thru an extra couple steps to print with "missing cartridge."

You learn to just go past the "Order new cartridge thru Lexmark" offers and learn to work the system to continue
using the color cartridge when the black is low (when the color was working that is).

For what its worth to report, just as well to buy the Lexmark cartridges and not the compatible ones off ebay that come with a
tiny bit of ink in them and then they're empty.

Also it doesn't seem to like more than about 50 sheets of paper at once.

Still not as frustrating as the HP 4795 in the house that continually reports it is out of paper
when it clearly is not.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boo! Don't waste your money., September 8, 2011
This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
I had so many problems just getting the WiFi feature to work. After three attempts of reloading the software and set up, it finally worked. The print quality is atrocious, and it seems like I have to buy new ink cartridges with my books every semester. The duplex mechanism jams during the winter. It is loud. The software is the only positive attribute: it is easy to use and set up print projects.

I have owned this printer for three years, suffered with mediocre printing results, and severe electronic annoyance. Tonight, the scanner jammed and made a dying printer kind of noise. Fed up with the whole thing, I demolished it with a hammer, and threw the pieces in the trash. I wouldn't take another Lexmark printer home if someone paid me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Printer, Expensive Ink, October 5, 2010
This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
I have had this printer for over a year. Had one problem with printer, it would only print a single page of any document. Had to choose to print each page one at a time. Lexmark was able to solve this problem without much hassle. I don't print a great deal so I have problems with ink getting clogged up. I do hate having to print unnecessary alignment pages too often. Ink costs too much and does not seem to last very long.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not user friendly! Wastes ink!, April 27, 2010
This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
This printer has few annoying aspects. The major one being that it must be aligned every cartridge change which prints a color page (wasting ink), and then scans it (wasting time). Funny thing is that you can print over the network before alignment and the printout is fine. Locally the print server forces you to align, even though it is not necessary. Think this is an ink wasting scam. I would not recommend it or buy another Lexmark!

1.0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For!.!.!.!.!, August 5, 2009

This review is from: Lexmark X2500 Color Copier Scanner All-In-One Multifunction Printer (Electronics)
$[...] for real???? Must be joking when I saw this price on amazon... My brother brought this printer at [...] online special for $[...] and let me tell you he got what he pay for, a peace of usable junk... I say usable because it was once usable for about 30 pages of texts.. the ink cartridge is what surprises me because the color cartridge came with the printer not the black. The ink cartridge are 3 color in one.. That mean when you actually use yellow more than the rest you will have to buy another cartridge that have three colors in one(isn't that ridiculous)... That's why I went online to buy some lexmark ink refill and let me tell you that was a waste of money as well because once I refill the cartridge exactly the way was told, the printer still couldn't tell any difference and won't print. I think the little chip under the cartridge is the reason for this... so I have no hope to refill the cartridge and went to walmart for a ink replacement.. and can you guess what ... the color ink cartridge cost the same or more than the printer itself...ridiculous...

By the way the prints are terrible but readable.. I'm talking about text.. the picture on the other hand are insane.. You can actually see lines left from printing... But it does print pretty fast.. I'm thinking about the Epson Stylus NX515.. it will cost me about $[...] but I guess I will get better out of printing than the lexmark ever will....
