This is a good printer for the price. Print quality for normal print jobs is good, it has a small footprint, easy to use interface via a web browser, a dust cover over the paper tray, and the network connection is a lot better than having to connect directly to the PC (although you can do that if you wish). If you have more than one computer on a network at home, I would recommend this printer. The only thing I don't like about it is that you cannot specify custom paper sizes. This means you have to do some trial and error and arithmatic in your application to get it to print the way you want on non-standard paper. For $125, I can live with that.

Straight out of the box, took me 10 minutes to get it up and running.
This printer is a neat package and is exactly what I was looking for. Other network printers are at least in the $250 price range. -Network printer -Laser B/W - very quick -Plenty for home and home office use. for the price I paid for it, its a snatch! yeah it doesn't take a whole ream of paper...but that's not a big deal. The quality is great. It sits in the living room in the corner so anyone can use it and it doesn't take up space in my work room (which is already packed). Its plugged into the wireless router in the living room. so the printer is wireless. Great product Lexmark. GOOD JOB! I am a average user, print taxes, applications, envelopes, directions, confirmations, recipes etc etc....you know, day to day stuff. network setup: - add printer to router - login to router and check printer ip. The host name will be 'ET' followed by numbers - using that IP go to the printer...change host name to whatever you want..set location etc. have had this puppy for over a year and love it.

Quality is good. Speed is very good. The paper feed is good. My last laser printer fed poorly allowing me to use only 20 lb paper. The envelope printing is excellent, no wrinkled envelopes. Paper tray is more than adequate ~ 1/2 ream.

I upgraded from a USB color inkjet to this networked laser printer. I can't believe how fast the printing is and I can't believe the convenience of having the printer on the net. I'm technical enough that I was able to give the printer a permanent IP address and all the computers at home (about 6 of them) have no trouble finding the printer using Apple's Bonjour or avahi for Linux. Other reviewers complain about tech support but luckily I haven't needed it.
I was aware of the 1/4-full 'starter' toner cartridge but we got over 500 pages out of it. Even though the new cartridges seem expensive the cost is less than 3.1 cents per page, which is very reasonable for an entry-level laser printer. We don't print so many pages per month, and we are thrilled with the speed, convenience, and quality of this printer.

A wonderful SOHO B&W laser printer,

For SOHO (small office/home office) users looking for an inexpensive, small, quality black and white laser printer, the E120N is probably the best on the market. This unit is provides high quality, fast output, Ethernet networking, efficient use of toner and a small, well designed profile that allows it to fit well even in tight spaces of small offices. It is a great choice for Mac users, too, as opposed to some of the other low-end laser printers that may exclude Mac support. I have no complaint about the OS X CUPS driver it uses, and it seems that the E120N's OS X driver is actually a bit smarter than its Windows driver given that on the Mac it can automatically choose to use the top tray when paper is available (whereas in Windows the tray has to be selected manually). Speaking of the top tray, it's very conveniently used to print envelopes (Official 10 particularly).
In the nine months we've owned ours, we're on our second full toner cart, and while the printer's toner nag light has been on for weeks now the output is still problem free. Another note about the cartridges is that they're often not sold at the big office chains. The best way to get them is to order online the toner cartridge recycling package, which offers a lower price as long as the user promises to ship back empty carts. I do have some concerns about how long the E120N will last since one of the trays stopped picking up paper properly for a short amount of time. That problem went away. As long as I can get at least two years out of it, I'll be satisfied enough to maintain my 5 star rating. The E120N is certainly a better choice than using an inkjet for B&W printing, spending a fortune on inkjet ink in the process. Regarding noise level, this is a nearly silent laser printer, but there is one interesting quirk: for some reason it periodically, perhaps hourly, goes through some 2 second mechanical adjustment that is moderately loud. If that bothers you (it can be a bit of a nuisance in a quiet room), you can always turn it off when it's not in use.

I bought this printer a few months ago to replace my Brother HL-1440 which broke after 2 years and the replacement part was greater than the cost of a new Lexmark. I really liked my Brother.
The Lexmark does several things well. It's fast. It works fine with Linux. It prints with very good quality. And it is NETWORK capable which is invaluable for the many houses and small offices with multiple PCs. I do have one complaint in two parts. The printer does seem designed for light use. By that I mean that (A) the paper tray doesn't hold all that much paper and (B) the toner cartridge doesn't seem to last all that long. Brother HL-1440 with fairly heavy printing lasted about a year for me on one cartridge. Lexmark E120 with similar printing is beginning to show signs of running out after 3 months (with a replacement cartridge, not the original starter cartridge). Still, a good printer for probably 90% of the people with normal printing needs. Next time, though, I'll probably spring for an hp. They really do seem to be the best.

We were in the market for a network printer for our home wireless network. Found this Lexmark for just over $100, which I was a little skeptical about for a laser network printer. But after a month of use, we have been very pleased with it. It was relatively easy to set up and connected to our wireless router. Keep in mind this is not a wireless printer, but it can be connected to a wireless router which essentially makes wireless. No more dealing with file/printer sharing issues! The print quality is very good as you'd expect from a laser printer, and the printer itself is not too big. Lexmark email support has been surprisingly helpful(had questions about assigning static IP address). The only unknown at this point is the durability...time will tell. Would definitely recommend for an entry-level network printer.

For the four days I've owned this printer, it has done a great job printing for my home wireless network.
This printer set up relatively easily for me; I connected it via cable to my wireless router (had to buy the router-connection cable separately). Once connected, the printer spat our a test page that included an IP address for the printer. Then I downloaded drivers for Vista 64-bit and XP, since I have two laptops. I got both off of the Lexmark website, since I wanted the most current drivers. The 64-bit Vista driver is on the website, but it takes a lot of work to find it. As I ran the 'printer setup wizard' or similar program, I had the "Connect Printer through TCP/IP" option pop up, so I decided to try that option and use the IP address that had spat out on the test page. The end result - both laptops print wirelessly now. |
