Like the previous reviewer I got mine for a great price from Staples which more than makes it worth my while. My first try at setting up the printer was unsuccessful ... I had consistent paper jams once the sheet finally left the paper tray - so I took my original printer back to Staples and exchanged it for a new one that works just fine.
The printer quality is great for what I do (Word and Excel mostly) and the speed is fantastic. No complaints in either department.
I do think that the printer is oversized though and could be less obtrusive on my desk. Additionally - if you leave the power on, it occassionally "cycles" as if ready to print for 3 - 5 seconds about once every 4 hours. Odd - and occassionally scarey when you aren't expecting it in the middle of the night.
Minor complaints for what is a pretty good printer and - if you paid what I did for it - a great price.

I've set up the printer today and the installation was pretty easy. I have a couple of other laser printers and E232 is compatible with other printers in terms of the printing output quality. I got it with a very good promotion price from staples. I was impressed with the printing speed of the printer. It was very fast and has a large paper holding tray which is a convenient feature. I am very satisfied with the printer.

My husband purchased this printer just before the 2004 income tax season - he has a seasonal tax preparation business - and it has printed over 10,000 pages so far with only one call to tech support, which cured the only problem - not pulling paper through (dirty rollers)- with a Q-tip and alcohol in about 5 minutes. After using inkjet printers for his first few seasons and going through 3 black ink cartridges a week during his busiest time, plus the wait for the slow printing time, he decided to try a laser printer and loves it. It much more economical to operate and so much faster. He highly recommends this printer for anyone who does a lot of black and white printing.

We have more than gotten our money's worth from this machine--print quality has been as expected, and it runs flawlessly on our 3 Mac network. Print speed is very good, and it has way more RAM than some comparable models from other makers. This leads to one of my two complaints--it actually queues print jobs so fast that you have absolutely no time to cancel a job, a bit of a drag when you forgot to specify printing only page 1 instead of all 40! My only real point of dissatisfaction is that it does not do a good job picking card stock out of the feed tray (jams), but it does just fine pulling card stock through the manual feed one sheet at a time.

I purchased my Lexmark E232 printer several months ago and I have been very happy with this printer. I used to have Ink jet printers and I was forever having to clean the nozzles of dried ink as I don't use a printer every day. This printer has razor sharp text and not so bad black and white pictures after sitting for a week. I noticed in the reviews of others, complaints about a noise of something running for a split second while the printer sits idle. Well, this noise is actually the paper roller resetting itself so it doesn't end up with a flat spot when not in use. So don't freak out and send it back, because it is supposed to move the roller every so often. You get very nice prints of anything you would want to print in black & white. I recommend the Lexmark E232 laser printer for the person who prints a lot of text, or someone who doesn't print very much like Me.

I've had this printer for about 9 months and have no complaints. I love the speed of this printer and the clarity of the print. I lost the manual that came with my new dvd recorder at Christmas so I went to the manufacturer web page and printed up the 75 page document in about 3 1/2 minutes. Awesome. I also printed wedding invitations for my neighbor's daughter, and they came out beautiful, and it went quickly. Again I love this Printer.

I purchased this printer in April (2005) and soon noticed that it made a loud noise that lasted a few seconds, every few hours. The Tech Support team kept saying it was a faulty clutch and would sent me a new refurished) printer within a few days. They did send another printer but within minutes the noise began again and did so with the next FOUR printers they sent me. After a time I found it was the top paper roller moving every two hours (to the minute) even when the printer had never been connected to a computer! I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue and a lot of time repacking and mailing back the old printers. I thought I was getting a good deal but I guess not. I guess have to learn to live with the noise or just unplug it.
Update- To be fair, this printer is still working well a full two years later (I don't print a lot) without me having to replace anything. I connected it to a power strip so I can flick a switch to shut it off (and avoid the noise.)

This printer has performed very well and both print speed and print quality are excellent for my light-duty home office. I especially like the software duplex feature. The printer doesn't have a mechanical duplexer like more expensive printers. However, there is a printer driver setting that prints every other page. It then prompts you to flip over the entire document to print on the other side. For me, this has been one of those "why didn't they think of that sooner" features. I won't buy another printer without it.

I've owned two of these printers for over 5 years now in a small business environment. Both have been absolutely bulletproof, produce sharp printouts, and the first page is available in 5 seconds. They behave well with aftermarket consumables.

I agree with the reviewer that it will suddenly come to life for ~ 1 second every 4 hours or so, as if you woke it up from a nap. I've become accustomed to it, sort of like a cuckoo clock.

I knocked the rating down on features because it has few. No network connectivity is the biggest one these days. Keep in mind this printer first came out ~6 years ago; how many folks had wireless networking that long ago?

I also agree with the reviewer who said it's bigger than other, more modern mono laser printers. I can't dispute that, but I don't consider it a huge printer. For example, it's not bigger than a typical multifunction fax/copier/printer.

If you're looking for a simple, fast, very reliable mono laser printer this printer is the ticket. I've been extremely pleased with these printers.

This printer has saved us hundreds of dollars in ink--and the speed and LACK of maintenance required has been great too! Let go of your inkjet and send your photos to a photo lab. Highly recommended for family printing.
