IF YOU JUST WANT A PRINTING WORK HORSE YOU WANT A Lexmark E360DN,

This review is from: Lexmark E360DN Monochrome Laser Printer (Office Product)
Ok first off I got this printer in just over two days and I chose free shipping option. I don't know what Amazon.com did to get this printer here so fast. This printer must have come to me on Murcury's wings. This Lexmark E360DN printer was delivered so fast it blew my old gray werewolf hair back.
My species of werewolf is obssesive compulsive so when the printer arrived I took it out of its Amazon.com box. Next I took the actual printer out of its inner Lexmark box. I sat the printer on its shelf in my home. I peeled off the packing tape used to hold printer componants in place during shipment. I freed the printer cartridge from its packaing materials and properly reinserted it into its internal bay. I connected one end of a USB cable I had to supply to the printer with the other USB cable end connecting to my new Dell computer running Windows 7. I connected one end of the power cable to the printer and the other into my surge protector. I turned the printer on the little green LCD screen lit up asking me a few questions as it did its diagnostic self test. It passed its wake up test and went silent. I loaded the drivers onto my Windows 7 operating system by selecting the run setup.exe option. I followed the easy to understand prompts and selected the appropriate options for my model Lexmark E360DN printer. In no time at all not more than 3 minutes the driver was fully and correctly installed and my lexmark printer was there ready and waiting to be used. All I had to do was remember to remove my old printer driver and make my new Lexmark E360DN printer my default. Once I made my new lexmark E360DN printer my new default I printed something. I was amazed at how good the print looked. Even in economy mode the prints were first rate. The speed from warm up to first print after selecting print option is less than 20 seconds. The standard paper tray could be bigger so I took a star off for that but thats a little thing. So you will get up more often changing paper big deal. You can work this printer like a wild man and I should know because I am a wild man. This printer finishes all jobs quickly and will be sitting there eagerly waiting for your next printing challenge. Now I must confess I work everyday as a computer geek with printers of all kinds including Lexmark but never this model E360DN. I don't install printers for a living but I install and test printers of all kinds often as part of my job. However this printer is one of the easiest to set up I have ever encountered. Another well known printer company makes installing its printers about as easy as force feeding baby pigeons full grown elephants through an eye dropper! I don't use my printer for envelope processing so I don't know how this printer stacks up in that area. So if you just need a hard working basic printer that loves to work and work and work here is your home or office Lexmark E360DN printing solution. Finally in the all important area of cost Amazon's hidden price whipped the snot out of the official Lexmark home site price for this exact same printer and its toner so buy them from Amazon.com unless you have money to burn!

Toner runs out quickly, very expensive,
By Karczag (New York) - See all my reviews

The standard toner that is supposed to last ~3,500 pages lasts much less than that (about half or less), and the replacement cartridges are ridiculously expensive (well over $200 (!) for the extended-print cartridge). We had this experience with three cartridges, so not just one defective unit. We contacted Lexmark about this problem, but Lexmark did not even bother to answer. If you intent to print more than just a few pages, and care about running costs, opt for another printer.

Poor multipurpose feed design,

This printer was purchased largely to print checks, as well as regular tray use. Normally, the manual feeder tray would be used so that prenumbered checks could be printed in correct order, without having to change a printer setting. However, this printer does not have a sensor for paper in the manual feed tray, so it does not work in this fashion. Despite its solid build, we will have to return this item.

Great Work-horse Printer,

This review is from: Lexmark E360DN Monochrome Laser Printer (Office Product)
I had purchased 4 of these printers for our office and they have dramatically reduced what our office was paying for toner. The Lexmark e360dn has replaced our Brother HL-2170w printers which were burning through toner at an alarming rate, despite using the old duct tape over the toner sensor window trick. Our office was having to change out toner on a weekly basis on the Brothers. After much research, the e360dn was one of the only printers which I could find an estimate of the number of pages you could expect from a standard toner. It really is night and day with the toner savings and you do not have to sacrifice the quality of the output (reducing dpi, coverage, etc). I would definitely recommend this product as a general use printer in small-medium sized businesses. The only problems I have come across is with one printer that seems to regularly get paper jams, possibly due to a roller issue. Aside from that the problems are few and far between. I have had some issues using the XL drivers and printing PDF's where sometimes the output is garbled, two-lines per page gibberish which I have seen before with other printers and probably is more of a problem with the driver configuration or Adobe itself. Easily corrected by choosing the post script driver. Also, the software for installing the printers could be a little more intuitive. Other than that, a great buy! |
