5.0 out of 5 stars Stick with manufacturer toner
As a new IT Director long ago, I stopped the practice of using third-party toner and ink. The pay-back is in reduced laser and inkjet repairs, extended printer life, higher salary for you. Modern printers are so good that manufacturers now end-of-life them by withholding driver updates for newer OSs.

FYI: Lexmark's E250dn alerts you to replace toner way too...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lexmark Toner
This toner is too expensive for the number of pages it prints. I think Lexmark sells their printers cheap and then rips off the customers on the cost of the toner. Next time I'll check on the price of the toner before I buy the printer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stick with manufacturer toner, December 3, 2010

FYI: Lexmark's E250dn alerts you to replace toner way too soon. Lexmark is non-responsive to the complaint. (SUPRISED! I doubt they are alone in this practice.) Check your page count since toner replacement and order your replacement when nearer its 3,500 page rating. You can get more pages per cartridge by shaking that baby!

Is the original, standard cartridge with this model number. Brand new. Remember that the discounted price is primarily because this is being purchased under the cartridge return program. So when it is finished, you would have to return it back to Lexmark. The box comes with a prepaid return label from UPS, and you can use the same box.

Update 12/2010: It easily prints about 3000 pages. That is impressive.

Update 11/29/2011: The second cartridge printed 3600 pages before I had to change it!! Admittedly, the last 100 pages were imperfect, but they worked fine for draft printing. I have only printed B&W documents - Word and .pdf files on this, no images or maps. This impressive showing brought my printing costs per page down even further and made me respect Lexmark toners more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Always the best quality, February 11, 2012

There is another review on here that I did today for a third-party compatible cartridge. It wasn't good. We used Lexmark cartridges in the past. I believe four to date, and tried a cheaper one. It wasn't worth it. A week later we bought this genuine cartridge and the quality returned. With the bad cartridge our mailing labels smudged and so did many document. With this cartridge there is no smearing and documents are crisp.

I am one of those people that don'e always pay the premium that is asked of companies that sell overpriced "native" supplies, but in this case it seems to be worth the extra cost if you care about quality. The toner is just better.

I couldn't be happier with this purchase! As usual, I shop around for the best deal but also keep an eye out for quality. I stay away from the "generics" and stick with the brand names when it comes to ink cartridges or toner replacements because I have had bad experiences with the "unbranded". At first I wasn't sure how to differentiate between the "toner cartridge" and the "return program toner cartridge". This program, it turns-out, is a "green" solution as your cartridge (OEM) comes in a package with a pre-printed UPS label thus allowing you to drop your expended cartridge in and return it to Lexmark. Very cool! The price for the "return program" equipment is significantly lower so it's a win/win situation. I AM a happy camper!
