This review is from: Lexmark X1185 Color All-in-One Printer (Office Product)
The best thing about this all in one is the price (hence the 2 stars). Its really affordable compared to other brands out there. However the price isn't the only thing about this product thats cheap. ;)If you are looking for a copier/scanner/fax machine in one than you've hit the jackpot. It's really simple to switch back and forth, and provides a really high quality copy/scan. Plus the photo editing program isn't too bad. You can add text, crop, resize (the basic photo editing stuff). But the bad outweighs the good....the printer portion of this all in one is soooo frustrating. The ink cartridges for the lexmark printers are the worst ever! They dry out really quickly (wiping it with a dampened paper towel helps), and don't last long at all. Plus if you like to save a penny and wish to use the "refillable ink", your out of luck because the cartriges are impossible to refill (the little hole is too tiny to fit the refill needle in) and you are stuck paying 20-30 bucks a piece for the cartridges every time you turn around. Plus I think something on mine broke (yah who would have guessed?) because it doesnt pull the pages through properly, it pulls them crooked \\ <--sort of like that. I've had it for less than a year, but repair is out of the question...I'm going to go buy a different brand entirely. No more lekmark items for this woman! So to sum it up...it has it's good qualities, however you will buy way more ink and need to buy a replacement quicker than any other brand out there. Save yourself some time and frustration and buy a better quality item now. -Not Recommended-

This review is from: Lexmark X1185 Color All-in-One Printer (Office Product)
The Pros: Low price. A very fine, sharp printing in black, especially if you use a high-quality paper. Seems very reliable. My another Lexmark, the old, good Z11 is almost ten years old and still works like new. Very high quality scans. Decent, yet not fantastic color prints. Haven't tried it as a fax machine yet. Cheaps refills are readily available. Those reviewers who say the cartridges on this Lexmark are non-refillable are dead-wrong. Check AtlanticInkjet or any other major, reputable refill company and you'll find refill kits for 10N0016 and 10N0026 cartridges at only a little more than $1 (one dollar) per refill. I've been using refills for my Lexmark Z11 at all times, without any problems whatsoever.Cons: No drivers for 64-bit operating systems (Shame on you Lexmark! About half of all computers sold at major retailers, now are 64-bit. At least place a visible sign in all those stores next to your printers: "INCOMPATIBLE WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGY!).

Not good if you have windows xp professional 64-bit,
This review is from: Lexmark X1185 Color All-in-One Printer (Office Product)
I have the newest version of windows xp professional 64-bit. I bought this printer recently and it said it was compatible with XP..so I TRIED installing it, and it wouldnt go through! After countless searching on the internet, I had found out this printer wasnt compatible with the 64-bit. It should be because this is the latest version of windows XP! I am disapointed. Right now I am trying to get a different operating system so my printer will install. If not, I will have to face a 15% restocking fee at circuit city. I gave this three stars because I love ths look and the features because it seems to install on regular XP 32-bit/2000/98 computers.Edit: I have called and emailed lexmark and they have said they have no future plans of releasing 64-bit drivers to make this compatible with the system. That is lousy support from Lexmark! I have since then returned the printer and paid an extra $9 for restocking. Not good.
