What happened to good Lexmark Quality?,
By greatgm (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
The print quality of this printer STINKS, simple as that. Just to print a simple manuscript in black ink, the black ink is not black enough. It made my professional manuscript have a fuzzy-gray character to it. When I want to print in bold letters, it is hard to tell the bold print with regular print because the black print option is not black enough. Again my bold print look like a fuzzy-gray as if a person who lost his reading glasses. That is how fuzzy the print quality is on this printer. When I print in color the color contrast is TERRIBLE. I tested this printer on a picture I downloaded from the internet. The print was nothing...nothing like the color internet picture. It had very poor color contrast and the picture I printed did not even look like what was on the internet. Overall this printer is of poor quality and poor printing quality absolutely.
You know, I had an old Lexmark Z-32 printer. Man that was a very good printer because it had excellent print quality. The Z-32 printed in vivid black letters when I want to write a basic letter. It also had great color contrast for color pictures I wanted to print from the internet. However I wanted to upgrade, hence I bought this Lexmark X2470 printer. It is sad that Lexmark came out with the x2470 but the old Z-32 from the mid to late 1990's was way better than this piece of junk x2470 they make today. Lexmark has really let me down. I really was a fan and proponent of Lexmark products. However, I'm not anymore. I'm seriously considering switching to HP, Epson or Cannon. I got to find a way to get rid of my x2470 to someone who may like it, if I can find someone who likes it.

Good printer for light users,

This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
These clowns who gave it one star rating and etc. have no clue about anything at all. First of all, not all printers bring a USB cable so not sure why all these people are whining for. Also, these people are expecting a 55 dollar printer to be the best which it isn't at all. The price is cheap and when you buy cheap stuff, it sometimes isn't all that great. If you want a great printer, then go drop over 100 or 200 bucks on one.
This printer is decent and works well. For 55 dollars, it was worth it. Ink isn't that expensive if your willing to buy the 2 in one pack for 35 dollars over at Staples. Other than that, this printer does not bring a USB cable so buy one if you're going to buy this printer. If you're someone who just wants to print documents and is a light user, go and get this printer. If you're more of a business person and uses a printer a lot, avoid this and get something more expensive.

Decent "all in one" for price!,

This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
What do you expect for an "all in one" unit for about $55? You get what you pay for. That being said, it does NOT print good enough for business use. It does print good enough for school reports, shopping lists, code print outs if you are into web design, receipts from paying bills online, and other basic utility work.
The scanner works decent as well, again, for BASIC home utility work, not for business. The ink cartridge is a ONE unit model for about $20, and gives about 50-90 pages of decent printing depending on quality settings in software. Again, decent for an "all in one unit" that you just want for BASIC needs at home. There are other features with this unit such as FAX and copier, I haven't used the FAX but have used the copier mode, and was satisfied. I am pleased with the unit for the price, relative to my needs! :)

The Lexmark X2470 is a great product that provides the ease of scanning, copying and printing at the touch of a button. This is the first printer that didn't require an advance degree to use.

For the price I cant complain. It is not the best printer I've bought but I'm hoping that it will last longer than the more expensive one that lasted only a year.

This all-in-one is perfect for my needs - light home use. It was easy to set up - easy software and support. Takes up little room. I like that it only uses one ink cartridge and shows you ink level each use.

If only it had black ink!,

This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
As long as you just want to scan occasionally and print photos now and again, it is a decent printer. I wouldn't recommend this one if you ever print in black and white like for school reports or business use.
The biggest downfall to this printer is that it doesn't exactly have black ink. It prints out text kind of gray. The other problem is that it uses ink like it is going out of style. I bought a cartridge and after about 5 pictures, it was low on ink again. Another problem I have is this annoying box that comes up when you print. I will be typing while it is printing and it will stop my typing and this box gets in the way. You can't tell it to stop warning you of low ink. You can get it to 2 boxes instead of 3 that come up but that's it. I had the printer on one computer and it worked great. Then I moved it to another, installed the software, and the buttons will not work. The buttons work when it is hooked up to the other computer. Strange! It also does not hold very many sheets of paper. I get tired of reloading it. I have to say some good things though. The scan part seems to work great. i have never had any problem with it. It prints nice photos. Considering how few you get out a cartridge, it is probably cheaper to have them printed somewhere but I don't always want to wait. I printed out some of my wedding photos for friends and I was happy with them. I have not had any problem with the software. It never has trouble "communicating" like I always have with HPs. The photo software that comes with it is good stuff.

Not what I expected from Lexmark,
By SouthernCharm (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this Lexmark X2470 all in one for printing pictures,
faxing, printing documents, scanning and making copies. I was very disappointed with the quality of the photos. They were not sharp and did not have good color definition. I needed to print some shipping labels and the print and confirmation code were too light and not true black. The print looked like a grey green shade instead. I tried to darken the printer settings to no avail. I ordered a new cartridge online for $20.00 and the print was still too light! I guess it has to do with the single cartridge for black/color combined. The only good thing I can say about this Lexmark is that the scanning worked fine. I have not tried to fax as yet so I cannot make a judgement on that. The paper holder is cheap and does not hold a lot of paper. The plastic piece that inserts into unit cracked after 2 uses. I went out and ordered a HP deskjet from Circuit City for $34.00 on sale and it works much better as far as rich ink quality, speed, and color photos. I am sorry I purchased the Lexmark before I read more reviews.

Worst Printer ever !!!!,

This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I bought my new Lexmark printer in Thanksgiving sale season at 20 $, then I found out that the printer is not even worth my 20. The photo is ok but the printing is extremely bad, the ink turns to be gray green not black and the lines are not sharp. The printer is cheap thought, but the ink is 25 dollars and the printer is ink consumption also.
That printer is just a waste of money. Dont buy it

great product if you never ever have to change the ink,
This review is from: Lexmark X2470 Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
This is the worst product I have ever seen. To change the ink cartridge I had to take it apart by hand, which involved a screwdriver. Also, taking the "lid" off (that's the scanner part), disconnected a few cables, which I could not replace without the aid of tweezers. Once I got the whole thing back together I realized I had somehow broken the scanner.
Fine, whatever, I thought, but no. You can't use the printer if the scanner is broken because the printer automatically asks to check its alignment using the scanner and you can't just skip this process and print your job. It won't let you until the alignment is complete, but I can't align anything because the scanner is busted. I just smashed the whole contraption with a bat ala office space and I have a similar fantasy involving the person that designed this machine. |
