4.0 out of 5 stars Good Printer ... So Far
After having experienced numerous problems with previous printers (computer not being able to recognize printer, printer not being able to handle multiple print jobs at once, printer not being compatible with more than the initial computer hooked up to, printer necessitating color cartridge even to print colorless documents), I am pleased to say that this model so far...

2.0 out of 5 stars The X650 consumes ink like crazy. Otherwise excellent.
For my X5650 LEXMARK, I have had to buy a new black cartridge ($24 plus tax at Walmart) after just about 50 sheets. The cartridge was 36 black. This adds up to about 45 cents a page. The maintenance people (people with barely understandable English) told me that that is not unusual. This cost is outrageous!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Printer ... So Far, September 25, 2009

After having experienced numerous problems with previous printers (computer not being able to recognize printer, printer not being able to handle multiple print jobs at once, printer not being compatible with more than the initial computer hooked up to, printer necessitating color cartridge even to print colorless documents), I am pleased to say that this model so far shows no sign of these issues. However, I must point out that I've usually exprerienced the aforementioned issues farther down the line, which means I am prepared for the worst. The difference in this scenario (that is, from my previous purchases of printers) is that I contacted Lexmark (the manufacturer) BEFORE I purchased the item, (an idea I must say should have occurred to me long ago), to find out whether or not the printer will need a color cartridge replacement often, even if I just want to print in black. The good news is that as long as you print a color document from this printer once every two weeks, (according to the Lexmark representative I spoke with), the color cartridge should last up to four months and this will allow printing primarily in black for that interim. That's all I wanted out of this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars The ink ripoff is so offensive & expensive, the printer is not worth it!, October 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
The printer itself is ok, a little slow, but decent for the price, but the ink scam is so offensive to me that I'm going to get rid of the printer.

When you buy the Lexmark ink cartridges (14 & 15) for this printer, they come with a policy that ink will only be dispensed for a certain time and then it will stop (while a variable amount of ink is left in the cartridge - it really says that on the box of ink). At that point, you must send the cartridge back to the manufacturer and order a new one - you don't even have the liberty to use the rest of the ink in the one you had! Once the printer determines that it's done, that's the end of it. Refilling is prohibited under this policy - I believe there is a way you can trick the printer with a piece of tape, but that's not the point. One set of replacement cartridges is nearly as much cost as the new printer with cartridges. There are cartridges available that are refillable (14a & 15a), but the cost of one set of those is MORE than the cost of the printer AND they're only available online, not in stores.

I'm all for recycling cartridges, but reusing them is one step in the recycling process. By prohibiting refilling AND by not even allowing the ink cartridge to be emptied before it has to be replaced, this policy shows that it is only for scamming money out of people, not for helping the environment.

3.0 out of 5 stars The best printer/scanner/copier you can find at this price, but ink is a rip off., February 6, 2010
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
I got the X2670 on sale for only $45. At first I was suspicious about the price and afraid it would not work very well, but actually it is pretty good. It was easy to set up and uses a standard printer usb cable. The printing and copying is slow and loud, but the quality of prints and scanned images is surprisingly good. There are two customer images posted of photos that I scanned using my X2670. Also, I like that the printer comes with software that enables me to create PDF files. My only complaint is that the ink is a huge rip off! A pack of B/W and color ink will run you between $41-$48. That is about as much as the printer costs.

1.0 out of 5 stars An absolute nightmare!, February 21, 2011
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
I have to say, for the first four days I owned this printer/scanner, I was in love. It does print beautifully, when it actually does print. After about four days I started having trouble with it, getting error messages, etc. I called the company and they told me the driver disc included with the machine was corrupted (!), and I would need to download the driver off their website. After three or four tries, this worked, but now the printer will not work off my computer, will only copy and print off it's own scanner. The company is useless. Every time you call you get someone that can barely speak English and has no idea about the product. Also, the price of the ink cartridges are almost the most expensive you can find, which makes up for the price of the printer. If you Google all the Lexmark "All in Ones", you will see the problems people are having with them. I will never touch a Lexmark product again!

1.0 out of 5 stars DONT BUY -- POS RIP OFF MACHINE!!, June 3, 2010
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
Ive had this printer for about a month and its been nothing but a nightmare, it was very difficult to find drivers since the piece of crap doesnt come with any, and it won't print unless you buy new cartridges every week!! Even though I know there is plenty of ink in the cartrides everytime i try to print something, even if its just a half paragraph of words, it prompts me with all these B.S. messages saying that I need to buy more cartridges in order to print. It prints out test pages just fine, but for some reason does not want to print anything else unless I buy new cartridges even though I don't need them!! Theres a reason this thing is so cheap! Its just a mechanism designed for you to dish out 30$ in black cartridges when they are still at least half full! Be smart and don't buy this satanic hellish poor excuse for a printer!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this as the Ink refills are very expensive, March 25, 2010
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
We bought this as a cheap fill-in printer while we are traveling overseas. Don't be drawn in by the cheap price of this printer. We paid about $49 in October '09 and by Feb. 2010, we needed to buy a second full cartridge. (We used the one it came with in a month) They are approx. $24 each for black. You cannot buy a cheap or non-Lexmark ink cartridge anywhere, seemingly. They have every other model under the sun but not the one for the Lexmark X2670. Seems like a bit of a rotten trick by Lexmark. Won't be buying another one and am going to attempt to return this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time, November 9, 2011
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
I just bought this printer from a different retail store. It is by far the biggest waste of time. I bought it because I needed to scan documents in and email them. Fairly simple, but this machine is not user friendly at all when it comes to the document scanning and conversion. The platform appears to be useful, but it won't download certain parts of the software so, so far, nothing has happened. I am up to three hours fighting with this thing and would NEVER recommend it. Spend the extra $10 to get something that is going to be user friendly and not make you jump through hoops just to make it work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will NEVER Buy Another Lexmark Printer!, August 6, 2011
This review is from: X2670 All-in-one Printer (Office Product)
I wish I could give this a negative review. My son bought this printer after their old printer died. Little did he know that after he ran the ink out, it would cost him more to get new cartridges than what he paid for the printer. There are no compatible generic cartridges and refills won't work. You MUST get NEW Lexmark cartridges. I'm seriously thinking of tossing this and getting another Brother like in my office.
