I had a Epson CX6600 big and bulky and I had to use 4 different inks but it died on me. I think it was the print heads (I used generic ink to save some money and it stop printing). So I had to get another "All In One Printer" quickly and I didn't want to spend alot of money.
I got this printer for under $50.00 bucks it takes only ONE cartridge for $19.99 and it prints pretty good, pictures are not great but pretty good for a 50.00 printer. Copies are good and so far I am totally surprised and pleased with this little all in one. Lexmark is known for their expensive inks but this ink cartridge is only $19.99. Don't know how long the ink lasts yet but overall I would say it is good printer for the money and I am pleased with it.

I bought this printer because of it's small size, and for the most part I have not been disapponted. The worst part about it is that there is no black ink cartridge, it uses a mix of colors to create black which definitely leaves something to be desired. For a $50 printer I got what I paid for, which is what I expected, so I am not disappointed.

I picked this all-in-one up at my local office max for $39...great price. Yes, it uses a composite ink cartridge, so if you print alot of text the black isn't terribly sharp. However, I find it prints photos and color scans pretty nice and clear, and the speed is good too. The scanning is pretty quick too, with alot of options in the software. You can also configure it through your computer to do faxing, but keep in mind the machine doesn't do it stand alone.

I spoke to Lexmark about the quality of the starter ink cartridge (#1), they say the replacement cartridge gives better print resolution and color than the one that ships with the unit as a starter, I'll see when I replace it.

I find the prints on plain white recyclable paper not the greatest, but on heavier paper and glossy photo, the prints are actually quite good. I'm not sure I would pay $100 on up for this unit, but for the price I paid, I'm happy with my purchase.

If you are printing alot of text based pages, this may not be the best for you, switch to one of the all-in ones that use a black and separate color cartridge. Otherwise for color, it does a nice job.

Basically this is a great unit for printing and scanning. If you print alot forget it. You get about 90 pages per cartridge. That's about $20.00 bucks per 90 pages. So you see the gimick is give the printer away and sell lots of cartridges.

At first I was very happy to get this all in one printer. I needed the scanner more than the printer and the price was managable. The installation cd mentions that its windows and Mac compatable but that's big lie. When I put the cd in my computer all of the installation files only open for Windows and not Mac. I even went to the website to see about the drivers there and the site even mentions that this printer is only for Windows. I like the fact that the printer is lightweight and easy to use but it's totally useless to me if it only works for the Windows OS. Lexmark really shouldn't put the Mac logo on the box or installation CD if it won't work.

After using a brand new LEXMARK x3470 four or five times (printing not more than 10 pages each time) and having to replace the cartridge 3 times, I considered buying another printer, but had work to do so went and bought a 4th cartridge.

When I installed it I got an error message that said: COVER OPEN which it was not. I turned everything off, turned it on again, and the message was still there.

I went online and waited for a CHAT person about 7-8 minutes. Then, got a message that no one was available.

Finally I called their 800 number and an Indian gentleman said there was NOTHING he could do but send me a 25% coupon for another printer. I have wasted over an hour trying to print a two-page document. I asked the gentleman why I would buy another Lexmark printer, even at 25% off, if the one I have had less than a year won't work. He said he understood but that was all he could do to help me and that my printer is "defective."

And, incidentally, each time I buy a cartridge, it's about $22-$23 so it has cost me about a dollar a page and now I have no printer.

NEXT printer will definitely not be a LEXMARK -- too expensive to replace annually and at $1.00 a page, too costly for me!

This unit was easy to set up and begin to use BUT the quality of the print was very bad. Actually returned the printer and purchased another brand.

I agree with the first review but the ink cartridge does runs out quickly. I like the idea of one cartridge and the cartridge cost is ok but make sure you have plenty on hand if you do a lot of printing. I have noticed that the printer prints well in some cases but is shotty when printing Fedex labels. I don't know if it's a setting issue or what but it does print regular pages just fine.

I just installed my third new ink cartridge. They go fast, less than a hundred pages each. You get a message telling you that the ink is low after only printing a few pages.

Anyway, when I closed the lid, the "cover open" message wouldn't go away, and the whole printer just locked up. I unplugged it from the wall and plugged it back in, and the cover open message was still there. I called tech support and they told me I needed a new printer. They emailed me a 20% off coupon, that you had to use as soon as you opened it, you couldn't reopen it. But Amazon has links to their website that say everything is 20% off there.

Now I see all over the web that everyone is having the "open cover" problem. It is a design defect. Don't buy it.

I got this printer free with the purchase of my laptop. It worked fine, though I have to agree with the previous posts regarding printing plain black and white documents. The scanner worked really well and copies were grainy. My big issue was this: my roommate changed the ink cartridge (which had been done a few times before thanks to the small supply of ink in each cartridge) and an error message reading "Cover open" appeared and never disappeared. We unplugged the machine, open and closed it countless times, all to no avail. I finally called customer service. The representative went through a "troubleshoot" in which he told me to unplug the printer and remove the ink cartridge. Plugged it back in and closed the lid and the error message was still there. I was told that the problem was that the "cover sensor" had a problem. This is the best part, the solution was "you will have to buy a new printer and I can send you a 20% off coupon to help you with your new purchase". I was also told that I must have done something wrong when I inserted the new cartridge and that the coupon was all he could do for me. DO NOT BUY LEXMARK PRODUCTS! This is one time where I am looking the gift horse in the mouth.
