I bought this printer to replace an old HP printer that was giving me headaches.
I couldn't be happier; the setup program is the greatest installation wizard I've seen in a while for a printer: It takes you step by step, with crisp and clear illustrations, through the whole process of unpacking the printer, installing the cartridges and getting the wireless working.
I was especially concerned about the wireless, the installation process had to deal with my Windows Vista, my router, my network security settings, my antivirus and my firewall ... I was expecting some trouble but it just worked seamlessly.
I was so happy I even registered the printer with Lexmark, which apparently gives you ink discounts.
Printing quality is great so far but I've only printed business documents, I'll update this review after I print some pictures.

PRO: Very easy to set up wireless. It goes to sleep (which I presume conserves energy) and quickly reconnects to the wireless network when woken up, which doesn't even require pressing the power button, just printing to it will wake it up. I also love that this is only a 3-in-1 machine, since I have no use for a fax function. Not having the number pad for the fax function enables a very clean design.

CON: Apparently in order to scan, the stars must be aligned on the 2nd monday of the month while you stand on one toe and touch your nose. But seriously, if either the computer has dropped from the network since the last time it talked to the printer, or the printer has gone to sleep, or the computer has gone to sleep (hence dropping from the network), the printer is unable to download the 'scan to' application list from the computer. Since the computer that I primarily use is right next to the printer, I've tried even having the printer directly connected to the printer in case it was a wireless bug. Same problem. And unfortunately, I have to scan a lot as design student taking some courses on-line.

One of the reasons I bought this printer is that I love Lexmark's ink cartridge return program, where for every 5 used cartridges returned, you get one free. It would be nice to be fully satisfied with their printers, as well, though.

We bought this at Circuit City for 69 dollars. We don't need fax, so this suited our needs, plus its smaller than its HP competitive printers.

The wireless was a snap to configure. I recommend this printer.

WARNING: This Printer does not double side print automatically. I initially purchased this product because Circuit City had a sign on it that said "Doubleside Printing", now I see it doesn't. However, I see that I probably don't need this option, so I'm sticking with it.

I purchased this Lexmark printer after researching it thoroughly on the internet and paying attention to the reviews by customers. I received it, followed the set up instructions and in spite of how easy it is to set up, I must have done something wrong. HERE'S WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD. I call Lexmark, am speaking with a customer service rep within two minutes, and she establishes a remote access to my computer, goes in and diagnoses the problem, uninstalls the software and reinstalls it correctly. Unbelievable. I have never experienced such excellent help from any technology company. Especially computer equipment companies.
When she got done, it worked perfectly. This makes so much sense I don't know why other corporations don't do this. I put up with crappy HP printers for years. Never again.

Watch out for spyware "C:\Program Files\Lx_Cats" is placed in your registry whether you participate in lexmark connect or not it's part of the (EULA) so you cannot use remanufactured cartridges, a chip in the printer itself contacts their website every thirty days with info on printer serial # and pages printed/ when last cartridge was changed among other things. I was looking for a 3-in-1, WiFi compatible printer for our winter place in AZ. It looked like the Lexmark X4650 would 'fill the bill', so I bought it. Its a great printer, was easy to set up and install on wifi system, and performs well for my needs (mostly b/w printing of documents I am composing). Unlike some wifi printers I have seen, delay time in response from laptop 'command to print' is minimal. It works well as a scanner (b/w trial only) and does ok as a copier. Like most ink jets, it tends to be a little 'hard' on ink, but the cartridges are available locally (WalMart). A nice feature is that the Lexmark does not continually remind me of ink status on laptop screen, unlike the Dell I have at home. On the X4650 ink status is displayed on small printer screen. Considering the price, I would give the Lexmark X4650 a 'best buy' rating.

Purchased this wireless printer 8 months ago at Circuit City as a part of a computer package. Although I paid next to nothing for this because of the package, I have been well pleased. It was a breeze setting up wirelessly and have no issues accessing it with my XP desktop nor my Vista laptop using a secured wireless router.

It doesn't use a ton of ink, like some of my other prints do. I also own a HP as well as a Canon. I would take this one anyday.

The only con I have is that living in a remote area, there are not a ton of choices to find the cartridges locally. I do get a discount with lexmark to order them since I registered the printer.

Was surprised that it scans in color as well as copies in color. Scans and copies are clean and I was impressed that this little printer was that advanced.

It is used at home on a daily basis. I have had absolutely no issues with this printer, not even a paper jam.

Now son is heading off to college in August and taking this with him. We like it so much, we will purchase another to keep ourselves.

Why did I post this now.....price checking to purchase again!

I purchased this product just recently after reading the reviews on this site. I had a Lexmark printer that just gave out after many years. This printer was everything the reviewer said and I am happy I bought it.

When this printer arrived I thought 'OK this is going to require some time to deal with all the network headaches'. So I put the disk in the drive, followed the extremely easy instructions, and everything was done in about 2 minutes! (I almost think an illiterate could follow the pictures and get the job done) It literally took longer to unpack the printer from the box, than it did to set it up. A great bargain too! It works great! Even the guy at my local Best Buy recommended Lexmark, but said they don't carry them. Now I know why he likes them.

Easy to install and setup. Works just as should. Love the fact that I can print from laptop from anywhere in house without a network.
