5.0 out of 5 stars I love this machine
I will admit, I have not used the fax option on this machine but I have gone through a couple of ink cartridges with all the printing and copying I have done. I have also done dozens of scans with it and I have not had a single problem with it. The print quality is great, the included software is very easy to use, and the ink costs are reasonable. 1.0 out of 5 stars JUNK!
The only pros are it will occasionally print and scan and copy. Usually this is after turning it on and off several times because the power quits, sometimes in the middle of a print job.

The fax has never worked correctly.

I have also done dozens of scans with it and I have not had a single problem with it. The print quality is great, the included software is very easy to use, and the ink costs are reasonable. For the price (got it for about $50 on sale), I think this is a great machine and I am very happy with it. Beats my older HP all in one hands down. The only thing that I don't like about it is the paper feed. I do prefer a bottom fed machine as my printer sits on the top of a cabinet, making it more difficult to load, especially when working with envelops. But for the ease of use in other areas, this is a very minor thing to me.

The only pros are it will occasionally print and scan and copy. Usually this is after turning it on and off several times because the power quits, sometimes in the middle of a print job.

The fax has never worked correctly.

I am on my second model (5650). I took the first back thinking I had a lemon, but the 2nd wouldn't even cut on - out of the box. I call tech support (Lexmark does have very good support) and was instructed to use a pencil eraser on the power adapter (which worked, but this was a new machine!) I was instructed to unplug, pick up and shake my first model! LOL

Note: I have a five year old Lexmark copy/scan/fax machine which still works well to send faxes. The printer part quit when it was about 2 years old. I have a very inexpensive Lexmark printer in my house which has never given me a problem. Point: Lexmark does have good products, but the X5650 model is NOT one of them. Stay away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Watch out for the cost, July 14, 2010
This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
Please, Please ,Please do your homework, I bought this unit because of the initial cost was cheap, it was on sale BUT..... the cost of the ink is completely out of wack.. WOW it just cost so much money to run. I am on my 3rd replacement in just a few months and at $70.00 plus a refill that is stupid money. Over $210.00 for copies in so little time. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MACHINE!!!!!!! I don't write reviews but this is just an outrage to pay so much for copies. This company, never again. I am looking at and doing my homework on getting a new machine after this review. This company should be ashamed of itself.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars You would be running through replacement cartridges like crazy, June 7, 2010

This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
For my X5650 LEXMARK, I have had to buy a new black cartridge ($24 plus tax at Walmart) after printing just about 50 sheets. The cartridge was 36 black. This adds up to about 45 cents a page. The maintenance people (people with barely understandable English) told me that that is not unusual. This cost is outrageous!

1.0 out of 5 stars Never printed in color - warranty not honored by Lexmark, August 7, 2009
This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I WOULD NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER LEXMARK PRODUCT AGAIN.MY PRINTER NEVER WAS ABLE TO PRINT IN COLOR BUT DID NOT TRY IT RIGHT AWAY SO I COULD NOT RETURN IT WITHIN 30 DAYS.
Lexmark never honored their warrantyandgave mea terrible runaround with no results. theblack ink stopped printing after one year. it still scans and faxes so I use it as a stand alone scanner and fax machine because FAXing is easier with the flat bed scanner -I scan/fax small things like receipts. What a monster taking upso much space.

The ink cartidgesalsocost a ton and I bought a new color cartridge thinking the onethat came with the printer was not any good. Just blew moremoreofmy money on this %^#%^%$%**.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ink usage very costly for this printer, March 13, 2010
By
This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
The printer functions fine except super expensive on ink. The ink runs out quickly so it is very expensive to keep in ink. I even tried a so called refillable cartridge but you can't get the printer to recognize it as refilled. In less than a year I have spent more on ink than the cost of the printer. I learned to find out which ink cartridges can be refilled and reset at places like Office Max.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!, November 20, 2009
This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I have never been more disappointed with a printer in my life!!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LEXMARK PRODUCT IN MY LIFE!!! It prints and copies fine until the ink gets low, then it will not print at all. Since purchasing this printer, I have had to purchase new ink cartridges EVERY MONTH, and it is not possible to get the cartridges refilled, as the ink is then not compatible with the printer. SO IF YOU THINK YOU ARE GETTING A GOOD DEAL BY BUYING THIS PRINTER, THINK AGAIN! YOU WILL BE PAYING FOR IT MANY TIMES OVER AGAIN after just a few months!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good all-in-one if the paper feed worked, October 28, 2009

This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
This is a great all-in-one if you happen to get one with a working paper feed. However, since this is a PRINTER, it should PRINT, right? Well, it does, and it does it well, but ONLY until the paper feed breaks. I'm on my second machine, as the first one started mangling paper a few months after we purchased it. Lexmark honored the warranty and we exchanged it for a new one, which worked for a while. And now, the second one has begun mangling the paper, jamming, and then telling me it is "out of paper". What good is a printer that doesn't print reliably? Not much.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Printer, August 7, 2009
This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this printer and it does a good job for me. I like the fack it easily connects to the front of any computer with a USB Port. It makes it easy to use with several computers in diferent locations if needed.
Lets get to the ink cartridges. It comes with standard cartridges, 36 black and 37 color. NOTE: These are NOT refillable and it will not let you use all of the ink in the cartridge. You must return the 3/4 empty cartridges to Lemark for refilling. They give you a $5.00 credit towards a replacement.
Well, I use a lot of black ink... If you want to use refillable cartridges you can with this model. You must purchase the 36A Black and 37A Color Cartridges. Notice the A after the number. I personally order mine from Amazon because they were cheaper than Walmart. I paid more at Walmart for an extra 36 Cartridge than Amazon charged for the 36A refillable cartridge.
The reason I did not give this printer a 5 in the rating is even though you can use refillable cartridges. Once you install a refilled cartridge, You keep getting a lot of stupid promts about how your warranty will be void if you use anything but Lexmark Ink.
All in all, I am happy with my purchase at the moment. I have been using it for a month now.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORKED FOR 40 DAYS, March 15, 2010
This review is from: Lexmark X5650 All-in-One Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
Let me start by noting that this printer is the third one provided to me from Lexmark to replace one that stopped working within a year. Since my original warranty had run out they gave me this one with a 30 day guarantee. It worked brilliantly for the first 40 days. Now it limps along (fingers crossed) until I can find a replacement.

The good things about this printer while it worked:

* printed out pages in both black & white and color well
* printed pretty fast

The bad things:

* automatic feeder stopped working properly & had to manually feed 40% of the time
* printer cartridges had short life span and replacements were expensive ($38)
* when choosing more then 10 separate items to print, can freeze & need to reboot PC to continue printing
* replacing cartridges is tricky, 50% of time it will not recognize the change & you need to use the "complete a print" option which requires an extra step

I bought a Lexmark printer over 5 years ago and that one worked perfectly but did not survive a move. I figured that another Lexmark would be fine and in the past 3 years, I have gone through 4 Lexmark printers and none of them have survived longer then 10 months. This model lasted only 40 days!! I know Lexmark seems like a bargain but save up your money for another brand and the cost of printer cartridges alone will make up the difference within a year...not to mention the constant frustration of dealing with a shoddy printer. Maybe it's the fact that the replacements provided by Lexmark are all crap but the bottom line remains the same - stay away!
