Very good quality at a low price.,

This review is from: Lexmark Z32 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
This printer is a very good bargain. It would be a smart choice for those in need of a fast, quality printer without the expensive price tag. I would suggest this printer for parents to buy for their children and can be put to good use when needed anywhere from term papers, color print-outs, to photo quality pictures. Easy to install, in a nutshell, a smart buy.

A great little printer for the price,

I got this printer packaged with a new Dell system. I usually always go with HPs, but this little printer is a jewel. It's not the fastest in the world, but resolution and print quality are excellent, and it just prints away with no problems. Small footprint means it fits on even crowded desks. Replacement cartridges are reasonably priced. My daughter is going away to college, and I think I am going to buy another one for her laptop.

Please don't buy this printer!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lexmark Z32 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
Based on recommendations I read about this product, I bought one --- and am I sorry! The first printer did well at the beginning, but after I printed several pages over a period of time, it started jamming on one side where the paper is pulled through. After repeated attempts to clear the problem, I reported this to Lexmark who sent a replacement. The second printer had the same problem, so that was also replaced. I am now on my third printer....although it jams occasionally, the new problem now is that the paper is pulled unevenly, so that every single prints crookedly. The funny thing is, with this third printer, the instructions I received is to get rid of the second one instead of returning it (guess they didn't want the defective product, either). At any rate, I am extremely unhappy with this product, and wish I didn't buy it. With so many inexpensive choices today from better known and more reliable printer manufacturers, my experience illustrates the old adage "You get what you pay for." So if you're contemplating buying this product, or any other Lexmark product ---- DON'T !!!

Tempermental,
By Jane Riley (Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lexmark Z32 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
Our Lexmark Z32 has the personality of a tempermental brat. It has a voice that was fun to hear for two days, but it insists on saying the same thing all the time. We hushed it. The printer can do professional looking work if everything is lined up right, but somehow it doesn't stay aligned and the characters--the letters--are often a mess. If the Lexmark has a paper jam or thinks it has a paper jam when it really doesn't, it automatically cancels the print job even after the problem is corrected. Tempermental. Maybe I have a computer problem that keeps the computer from making contact with the printer at times or maybe the printer is pouting. I'm not sure. At any rate, any time saved by this super efficiently fast printer is lost because of having to stop and restart the job. I abuse it with enormous assignments, and it appears that it balks after several minutes and pretends to be sick. I have one more complaint. When it spits out all that beautiful clear work quickly or when it is a little messed up--it doesn't matter--it sends the papers flying all over the room. I have to stand by it and catch them. I'll keep using it throughout its wretched life, but I am not sure that it is the best choice of printers. I don't really know how I could change though, because I am now familiar with all of the Lexmark's bizarre moods.Jane Riley, author of SOLOMON'S PORCH, THE STORY OF BEN AND ROSE

Budget printer, or Buggy Printer?,
By
This review is from: Lexmark Z32 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
For some reason, I have yet to understand that you get what you pay for. I fell for it when I bought this printer. It claimed such high resolution, a decent print speed, and a reputable name. But I was fooled. The first thing you have to do is hush up that foolish voice that reminds you that the printer is beginning to work. Never mind that the whole house will probably know that you are printing something because it is so loud. The printer has a habit of feeding itself more than one sheet of paper when it only wants one. It also likes to take a rest every now and then, claiming it has a "problem communicating with the printer", despite the fact that nothing looks abnormal. The ink cartridges are expensive, but since they are large the seem to be worth the money. A better design would make the ink cartridge separate from the print head, so you don't have to buy expensive chipsets just to reload ink. I've had the printer for a little over three months and it has already caused my machine to freeze (crash) more than ten times. This is a lousy printer...but you get what you pay for.

Good printer for the price,

The print quality is very good for a printer in this price range. I have had two HP's, a 600 series, and an 800 series, and the print quality is better on the Lexmark. The construction of the printer doesn't seem to be as high quality as that of the HP. Also, it's not the fastest printer you can get. But, if you are patient, and don't expect to print a large quantity, I would definately give this printer a look.

The Good and the Bad,
By A Customer

I have really enjoyed the quality of this printer since I upgraded my motherboard and added Windows XP. I have had no problems with it and my digital images have been just awesome. On the flip side this printer is a nightmare with Windows 98 SE. I experienced all the problems reported from other gripers...paper jams, driver errors, misfeeds, multi-page feeds, crooked pages, etc. I used to have to reboot my system to reactivate my printer. It was very frustrating. It cleared up immediately with my PC change. It was like night and day. Even print speed improved. I think the biggest issue with this printer is OS compatibility. I also think that anyone who does digital imaging will be rapidly going through ink. I haven't found a printer yet that doesn't drain the ink resources when making photo prints.

Great Bang for the Buck,

This printer is a great value. ... my old Epson 600, and the Z32 is twice the speed and twice the resolution and it doesn't need to constantly clean the print head. This printer does an excellent job printing photos as well. The only problem I had was when I tried to print on special canvas paper (used for simulating oil paintings). This paper was a little too thick I think because the printer couldn't grab it properly and needed a little help from me (though thick paper like this is not listed in the types of paper this printer can handle - so the problem was really me trying to use this for the wrong application).

Free with Dell,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lexmark Z32 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I know always to use caution when using anything that comes free, and this printer proves that point. The paper is always jamming, to get two readable pages I will have to print between 6-8 pages. This a a big drain on ink, I have had it a year and have gone through 2 black carts and have thrown away more paper than my son can draw on!

A Giant Misstep,

This review is from: Lexmark Z32 Inkjet Printer (Office Product)
I thought that after "winning" a Z-32 in a raffle, I was making an upgrade over the Lexmark Z-11 I currently ownded. It was not long after I found a good home for my Z-11 that I found out I was mistaken.Everything that could go wrong with this printer did go wrong. I had uneven page pulls (yielding crooked copys), paper jams, claims of paper jams when no such thing occured, "problems communicating with the printer", issues with the ink cartridges, print jobs that occassionally crashed my computer, etc. The final straw came when the printer cartridges could not be found anywhere in stores. I broke down and bought a new (Lexmark)printer. My adivce is, if you want a cheap, reliable, versatile, quality printer, buy a Lexmark printer BUT, do not, I REPEAT, do not buy THIS Lexmark printer. |
