2.0 out of 5 stars The Big Throwaway Printer!, March 2, 2005

This review is from: Lexmark Z615 Color Jetprinter (18K6000) (Office Product)
The Lexmark was nice while it lasted but after a few months and two re-inkings...it's heart ceased to beat. Amazon's free delivery was super...I just wish I could say the same for the Z615. Print quality and speed were excellent until the printer seized up...just like my old Z42. I should have learned but at least I now know to stick with Canon from here on end as our S200 while a little slower than some more modern types...is still going and printing fine like the workhorse it is! Lexmark cartridge prices are outrageous and that is why I purchased the re-inking kit. It worked once but now the printer won't accept them and wouldn't even accept a brand new Lexmark # 17 "Black" cartridge. The printer green "Power Light" simply blinks and a message appears telling me that there is a severe problem. Do yourself a favor and purchase the low cost Canon IPS 1500 instead. You'll get fast reliable FREE SHIPPING from Amazon.Com and great service from the printer itself. You'll jump for joy when you see the low prices on replacement ink cartridges to boot!

1.0 out of 5 stars I SUPPOSE IT WILL BE USEFUL FOR SCRAP, December 3, 2009
This review is from: Lexmark Z615 Color Jetprinter (18K6000) (Office Product)
I actually do very little printing from my computer and use my wife's computer for photographic work, ergo I decided to go with this model simply due to the low cost (translate that into cheap). And cheap it was and cheap it is...in more ways than one.

This machine is absolutely outrageously slow. The print quality is good when it does decide to print and that is about the only thing that I have to compliment it for. But that being said, when it decides it wants to print is rather problematic. I could go on a two hour rant on the cost of the ink cartridges for this thing. I am rather embarrassed to tell you that I could have bought several high quality, yet cheaper printers for what I have sunk into the ink on this thing; and that is on just the black ink....let me tell you about the color.....

I was able to print exactly 10 color copies before the color function went belly-up. I am not at all sure if it is the machine or a bad cartridge but with absolutely NO user directions and with the obscene cost of the color cartridge, it is simply not worth fooling with...there again, when I need a color copy of something, I simply use my wife's little Cannon which is truly a remarkable little machine.

I cannot in anyway recommend this product. I suppose I need to memorize the little statement, "you get what you pay for." My dumb.
