4.0 out of 5 stars three and a half stars...
There's nothing fancy about this machine, really, and you wouldn't want to print massive batch jobs on it, but it does what it's supposed to do. I haven't had any smudging difficulties (maybe try aligning the cartridges or using the "clean" feature?), and the installation is about the same as the Epson I did for my brother recently. If I were buying a printer, I might aim...

1.0 out of 5 stars Haha - This thing is awful - even if free!
This "printer" was part of a package I purchased. I had to buy it to qualify for multiple rebates on a computer, which has worked out great. However, unless you need to buy it as a rebate qualifier don't bother buying the Lexmark Z715. It's amazing to me that people actually pay around $80 for this thing. It feels like it came out of a Cracker Jack box, the print...

I haven't had any smudging difficulties (maybe try aligning the cartridges or using the "clean" feature?), and the installation is about the same as the Epson I did for my brother recently. If I were buying a printer, I might aim a bit higher than this, but as a free throw-in, which mine was, it's perfectly acceptible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserves a better review, October 29, 2006

Picked this up for my daughter, for college. It was very easy to install and set up. Most low cost printers are designed to use a lot of ink, if you're not familiar with computers. It's just a fact of life. How do you think they sell them so cheap? You need to print at lower quality settings.

4.0 out of 5 stars For less than an ink cartridge, you shouldn't complain, October 23, 2007
This review is from: Lexmark Z715 Color Jetprinter (15L7500) (Office Product)
I got a refurbished model of this Lexmark and I'm perfectly happy with it. It prints extremely well in I've never had any trouble with the feeder. It even has a CD that sets the defaults up fast and is extremely easy to use. It even has an cartridge alignment and cleaner function to program. The only problem with this item is user error. Do not use the 'best' quality ink setting on this; the ink spreads to thickly and will cause you to use up a color cartridge after 10 a4 papers; it also won't dry effectively. But this little snafu is easily avoided by keeping the ink output at levels 1 or 2, not the supposedly better '3' setting. Either people are getting spoiled and expect archival quality photos with a $20 printer or they have a lemon. Just make sure you snap in the Lexmark cartridges correctly, don't abuse the the little thing and it will be fine. Note: it is very light weight and can rattle its way off a table just via printing so just make sure you have it placed securely on a flat surface. Maybe put a small paperweight on it. For god's sake, you want the thing to shine your shoes for $20??

4.0 out of 5 stars We had rough start but I ended up liking the printer, October 11, 2011

I first got the printer the very day my computer fried so $2000.00 and three months later brand knew computer up and running I hook up the Lexmark Z715 printer and it don't work I had some how over the 3 months managed to lose the driver cd so I go online to down load. The Lexmark web site is for other printers they make is more than likely easy to navigate and understand but not the Z715 any way I get the drivers install them and it still won't print color. I go to their service department present my problem and was given very good help they sent me to a site giving me step by step instruction on how to clean the printer cartridges. which I do and it seems it was working by what I saw as I did what they were telling me to do I was optimistic about the chances of this working only it didn't. So they said they were sending me a new color cartridge. They did I put it and it works great So like I said we had a rough start but I like the printer and the way the company helped work out what was wrong good job guys thanks.

However, unless you need to buy it as a rebate qualifier don't bother buying the Lexmark Z715. It's amazing to me that people actually pay around $80 for this thing. It feels like it came out of a Cracker Jack box, the print smudges and it is irritating to set up. What else can I say? Too bad their was not a zero star option. Congratulations! to the people at Lexmark for creating the worst inkjet printer ever.

have had two of these, never had a problem!

all these printers seem to use lots of ink.

cheap printer = high priced in so they can make money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine printer, September 29, 2010
This review is from: Lexmark Z715 Color Jetprinter (15L7500) (Office Product)
Have had this for a number of years (like 4 or 5) with no problems. It does use too much ink, I'd estimate every few hundred pages for the black cartridge if you set it to high or highest quality. Ink is expensive at Best Buy so I buy cartridges on line. My wife wants a new, maybe better printer but you know what? With 3 kids in school who print god knows what, I set it to quick print as default and the ink lasts longer and the results are fine and it was inexpensive.

I like this printer. :)

And until it dies in 4 or 5 more years... I'm not getting rid of it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lexmark Junk, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Lexmark Z715 Color Jetprinter (15L7500) (Office Product)
Lexmark used to be a good company but I guess they have sold out like others. This printer WASTES a lot more ink than it should. Their cartridges only come half full (same with HP) unless you buy the 'better' ones. This printer is also incredibly slow. The only good thing I can say about it is it seems to last a long time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked Well But Didn't Last Long, June 19, 2011
This review is from: Lexmark Z715 Color Jetprinter (15L7500) (Office Product)
Got this printer about a year ago. It got very light use during that time as I have several other printers that get more frequent use. I doubt this thing printed more than 20 pages before the paper feed stopped working. For what it cost me it's not worth fixing. I'll just replace it with a better quality unit.
