One Phone Call Can Change Your Life, May 14, 2009
This review is from: Lexy's Little Matchmaker (Silhouette Special Edition) (Mass Market Paperback)
One day, Lexy Cabrera, a 911 dispatcher, received an emergency call that changed her life from that moment on. Ian was on a special hiking trip with his father, Drew Kimball, when his father was stung by a couple of bees. Drew, being allergic to bees, immediately developed a reaction and Ian called 911 and saved his father's life. Lexy, inspired by this courageous boy, went to the hospital to meet him and his father. Upon meeting the Kimball men, Lexy knew she was in big trouble of losing her heart to them.
This is a very quick read. Surprisingly, I couldn't put this book down and even if I did, I picked it up very quickly. The first couple of chapters lead up the fateful 911 call. And upon reading this, you couldn't help be emotional move by a little boy's fear of losing his father and a dispatcher trying herself to be calm, despite feeling the helpless to be physically to be there. This is really the best part of the story in my opinion. After that, it's more or less your basic romance. Drew Kimball was a sweet man and hero. Despite being widowed for 2 years, he wasn't bitter, patient and was able to follow through with his feelings for Lexy. Lexy, on the other hand, heart-wrenchingly strive to ignore him. Due to past experience, she felt she didn't deserve the chance to love again. Luckily, I didn't think she was frustrating like most heroines, who just wouldn't get it through their thick skulls. It took her only a couple of chapters. She gathered up her courage and confronted her feelings for Drew. This is an inspirational story and well worth the read.
