5.0 out of 5 stars Unlike Mana, Deep, New and Innovative.
With a better lead singer and an amplitude of variety between songs in comparison to Mana, La Ley has proved once again to have taken the crown that Soda Stereo left for best latin rock band. Besides "Mentira" the rest of the songs are not commercial or "pop" like other reviews said. This album lets you connect with the band's old and new style. Songs...

3.0 out of 5 stars con Ely Guerra?
I love the version of El Duelo, actually, I love listening to her on it. I was happy that the song title was "con Ely Guerra" - yea, that must be the one. So I pay my buck and start listening. Hey! where's the Mexican chick? Damn it Jim! The download must be a different version, all I can figure. I wanted to hear Ely! Aye.

3 stars, not to slam them for my...

Songs from most of their previous albums give you some deep inside feeling to what they have emerged to since 1989. "Dia 0", a song about a person that suffers from Amnesia is my personal favorite, but other songs like "Fuera De Mi", and "Al Final", provide you with a good taste of acoustic guitar, and symphonic strings, with the never dissapointing voice of Alberto Cuevas. His performance in "The Corridor" and "Krazyworld", demonstrate his versatile knowledge of not only the English, but also the French language. If you loved Soda and you are looking for a replacement, dont settle for the repetitive Mana, La Ley is your ticket. This album is probably the one you should buy first if you dont have any. But if you're a fan like me, you know this is just another example of greatness... La Ley has yet to make a dissapointing album.

5.0 out of 5 stars una experiencia religiosa, March 11, 2002

This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars The best latin unplugged I've ever heard., April 3, 2003
This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)
La Ley is one of the most important groups in Latin Music. The've won 2 Grammy awards and their latest singles became hits. That's the reason why they were called to make this unplugged.
The production is very good, they had selected their best song and also made some arrangements. They also made new songs like: "Mentira" and "Intenta amar". They also made a duet with a mexican great singer called Ely Guerra.
If you don't know very much about La Ley I can say that their music is a soft rock type and if you know them I can only say that this is their best cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars No dudes en comprarlo, September 26, 2001

This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, March 31, 2004

This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)
One year ago I was watching TV on a Sunday afternoon when I saw something that grabbed my attention. Only 10 minutes were enough to realize that that group could be the best one in Latin America. It was La Ley.
Ever since, I have sought songs of them in the Web because believe it or not, in Brazil almost no one knows La Ley. Therefore there are not their CDs on sale here. But the opportunity had finally come: my sister traveled to Argentina and... guess what was the first thing I asked to her: Yes! To buy the Unplugged for me.
One word can explain the feelings that have been filling my spirit every time I listen to it: poignant! From the first track to the last one, I open my heart together with Cuevas and my soul gets pleased. Soul-stirring!
Día Cero makes me cry; Krazyworld goes along with my wishes to have a peaceful world; El Duelo is emotionally strong; Aquí makes my heart beat faster. In other words, all the songs have a point that touches who listens to them.
Just Superb!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE!, January 15, 2004

This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)
I bought this cd after seeing La Ley MTV Unplugged (LIVE) on a spanish channel. I was just flipping through channels and a song caught my attention (I think it was "Mentira") and I was mesmerized by the singers voice (Beto Cuevas). I had heard about La Ley but I never really knew what his songs sound like. I don't even speak spanish but I could hear the emotion from these songs from the way Beto sings them. I love Beto's voice, it is soooo damn sexy. All of the songs are good, especially "Mentira","Krazyworld,"El Duelo", "Aqui", "Fuera de Mi", "Paraiso", and "Al Final". Theres one song (Krazyworld) he sings in French. I was really impressed by this one. I have to admit this is a must have CD for any new fans. Buy this one and you will be hooked. And it doesn't matter if you don't speak or understand spanish, you will love La Ley!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful rock 'n' roll, November 13, 2005
This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)
I was watching the Latin Grammy Awards last week when I learned that La Ley was disbanding. I was dismayed, especially when the group proceeded to perform an electrifying set that rocked the house.

I always thought that Beto Cuevas was a rock star of the highest order: Sexy and piercing in his look, but intelligent and oozing sensitivy through his vocals and video performances. All the members of the band are top notch musicians, but Beto stands out. I wonder if he is going to go solo? I hope so. I really don't think I am ready to say goodbye.

My favorites on this CD are "El Duelo" -- which will move you whether you speak Spanish or not -- "Aqui," "Al Final" and "Delirando."

I recommend all La Ley's CDs: Check out "Libertad." The songs "Amate y Salvate," "Los Demas," and "Mas Alla" are superlative. If you really want to check out Beto's rock star quotient, the DVD for this Uplugged performance and for "Amate y Salvate" will make you a true believer. The earlier CDs are great too. On "Invisible," my favorites are "Deuxieme Fois" and "Dia Cero." The original version of "El Duelo" is here too.

La Ley grew and created great music over the years, just like true artists should do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!!!, July 19, 2004

I saw La Ley live in concert recently at Webster Hall in NYC. Words can't express how incredible this band plays live. Beto Cuevas is trully a gifted vocalist who comfortably and eloquently uses the full range of his voice and delivers a perfect performance. Their unplugged CD a good example of how talented they are. The unplugged DVD is even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime, June 27, 2003
By
Christi B. (Dallas, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)
Simply sublime, like a piece of heaven. I have no other words to describe this incredible cd. What makes this cd so great is that La Ley takes out the techno sounds that often make their cds not as good as they could be. If you don't like any other La Ley cds, I can almost guarantee that you'll like this one. The song most improved from the original is without a doubt "El Duelo," which is so beautiful, it will give you chills. The new songs "Mentira" and "Intenta Amar" are also excellent, but you'll have to listen very carefully to "La Luna" to discover the brilliant analogy the lyrics make, despite the fact that it's only 2 chords (as Beto explains on the Unplugged video). Rarely have I heard a band whose songs sounded better live than in the studio, but La Ley never ceases to amaze me. This is the best MTV Unplugged album that I've ever heard, and it's a top 3 cd in my collection. It's just brilliant...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this album..., April 26, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: La Ley - MTV Unplugged (Audio CD)
La Ley's songs are passionate, romantic and earthly. This band has great maturity and gave an exciting and energetic musical performance here. The CD is immensely satisfying to listen to if you groove to adult modern rock and a great addition to any music lover's collection.

To sample this album you shouldn't rely on the clips above. In my humblest opinion, the best tracks, in the order that I like to listen them, are: "Animal"(clip above), "El Duelo" (I'd say this song sets the standard), "Intenta Amar", "Fuera De Mi", "Aqui", "Al Final", "Paraiso", "Prisioneros de Piel", "La Luna", "Krazyworld", "Dia Cero", "Mentira"...etc. Great album.

Other features to be appreciated include an amazing guest star singer (Ely Guerra) who lent her surreal vocals to the phenomenal track "El Duelo", the amazing female background vocalist(s), and the enthusiastic responses from the audience. ...
