My wife rides a TREK road bike, and its tires need to have 100 psi in them for her to enjoy maximum efficiency and ease from her bicycle while riding, and that matters when you are going to go anywhere between 20-50 miles per jaunt.

We used to have another pump that was only so-so, but just before a 65-mile ride about 100 miles from home our other pump pooped out on us so we had to borrow a pump from someone else. It was a Lezyne Sport, and it worked so well that the difference between it and our other pump was kind of like the difference between driving a Yugo and a Rolls Royce.

The nozzle at the end of the hose is reversible, so it can accommodate either Schrader or Presta valve stems. The thing I LOVE is that there is no lever to flip up or down to seat the pump nozzle onto the valve stem, the Lezyne nozzle just screws into place. You then pump, there is no air escaping through loose seals, and the large pressure gauge clearly indicates how much pressure you've got. You then press a small black rubber dimple on the side of the nozzle, the pressure trapped in the hose is released, and you then unscrew the nozzle and replace the valve stem cap. Viola, done!

After busting my knuckles, pulling Presta valve stems out of the tube, and various and sundry other mishaps with our old pump, this one is like a breath of fresh air!

OK, here's the one little thing that at least my pump has a glitch with. If the tire already has around 100 psi in it then for some reason the nozzle will not depress the valve stem pin and allow air into the tire - only the pump tube will pressurize. You then need to release the pressure in the pump hose, remove the nozzle, and release some air pressure from the tire, down to, say, 80 psi. Then the pump will work great. That's the only reason I didn't award this pump 5 stars. But, once you figure this out, the pump works like a dream!

Thanks Lezyne!

4 solid stars, and flirting with 5.

Great pump while it lasted. Cheap ABS bottom broke after a year of use. Pinhole blew out of the bottom while filling to 80psi, not very high pressure for this kind of failure. Called Leyzne about it and their customer service wanted me to find a box, pay for return shipping, then wait for a new one. Thanks, but no thanks, I'll take it back to the store, who I know will take care of me. Lezyne should be ashamed of themselves for such poor service on a product that obviously has a manufacturing defect.

I just bought this pump about a week ago, but as soon as I got it at my door I proceeded to pump up every bike tire in the house (4 road bikes and 2 mountain). Because of Lezyne's beautiful Air Bleed System (ABS) and Flip-Thread Chuck, the whole process only took about ten minutes, including flipping between Presta and Schrader valves. The flip thread chuck takes all of the guess-work out of pumping (did I get a good seal? No. Try again. How about now? Kind of) because of the way it threads onto the valve stem. Gorgeous design. It also comes with the Speed Chuck for Presta valves. I didn't think that I would use this very much because I love having the absolute fit of the threaded chuck, but the Speed Chuck provides a fit unmatched in any pump I have ever used, without any extra clamping or whatever. And when you are done pumping, you just push the ABS button and remove the chuck without the added resistance from pressure in the line. I could not be happier with this pump! If you are considering this pump GET IT! Though my experience with it so far has been brief, it has been an amazing product that seems to be very high quality.

This pump works great once you figure out its quirks, but the instructions that come with it are totally inadequate. I first used it with threaded Presta tubes, with the default Speed Chuck. It's pretty fiddly in this configuration, but mainly works up to 110 PSI or so. The problems come when you use it with an unthreaded, smooth Presta tube. My wheels want a 48mm valve stem, and it's hard to get threaded stems at that length.

When you put the Speed Chuck on a smooth stem and try to pump it, it laughs at you and comes flying off at 80 PSI or so. If you don't want to hold chuck with one hand and pump with the other, you need to remove the (black) Speed Chuck and reverse the (gold) Flip Thread chuck from the factory configuration so that the Presta end is open toward the tube. Then you open up your Presta valve, screw the Flip Thread chuck onto the stem as far as it will go, and then press it in a little more. The chuck threads onto the same threads the hold dust cap for the stem. The problem is that Presta valves don't open until they're pressed in, which this pump only does with some fiddling. If the chuck isn't fully engaged, the pressure reading on the pump simply shows the pressure in the pump, not the pressure in your tire. If you push the pump down once and get a reading over 100 PSI, the chuck isn't engaged. If it takes several strokes to get from 80 to 100, it's working. Once you've hit the desired pressure, you release the pressure in the head by pressing the button and unscrew the chuck.

If the company would simply include these instructions with the pump, it would be worth 4 or 5 stars. It does a good job once you figure it out, and it won't destroy your tubes like some of the pumps with clamp-on chucks will.
