5.0 out of 5 stars Essential to True Hawaiian Cuisine
As any native of the Aloha State will tell you, locals put Li Hing Mui Powder on anything and everything. This sweet/sour/salty spice packs quite a punch; once you've had it, your mouth will forevermore water at the thought of it. Literally. This spice goes well with all types of food, though it's at its best on fruit, candy and the rims of margarita glasses. I highly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Natural Li Hing Mui where are you
No one seems to mention that this stuff isn't even made from any natural ingredients. The stuff on Hawaii is natural, at least the Li Hing Mui powder I saw in some of the stores there. This stuff here is about as good for you as MSG.

I highly recommend it with fresh oranges: slice them up and sprinkle some of this on them. You'll never think of fresh fruit the same way again.

I was about 14 years old when I first tried Li Hing Mui powder. I grew up in Oregon and had never heard of it but my best friend was from Hawaii and introduced the powder to me. Dipping nectarine slices in the powder is an excellent snack - very tasteful and surprising for first timers. I have been searching for the powder locally for about 10 years but have not been able to find it. Believe me, you HAVE TO try Li Hing Mui - it's unlike anything you have ever tasted before in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Li Hing Mui Pork, July 23, 2009
This review is from: Li Hing Mui Powder (2 Packages)
I love , love , love this spice and one of my fav ways to use it is to rub pork loin and pineapple slices with the powder and grill them. While they grill I put 1/2 cup pineapple juice, 1 tbs corn starch and Li Hing Mui to taste heat all ingredients until thick serve over pork and pineapple. WONDERFUL!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good knock-off but not the "real deal" Li Hing, February 6, 2012

As another member wrote, there's nothing really natural in this product. It's a "knock-off" of the true Li hing you get in Hawaii. This product has aspertame and licorice, two ingredients not in the original formula used all over Hawaii. However, they DO use this brand too in Hawaii, but not at the quality locations.
