This battery is advertised as being a 9 cell extended battery for a Lenovo Thinkpad T61. Unfortunately it is not for a T61. Or at least it won't fit my T61. Not even close.

Unfortunately Amazon seems to be reaching its goal of becoming like EBay. I don't think that is a good thing, as this is the second wrong part I have received from Amazon LLC this week.

I have a 14'' wide-screen T61 and after all those reviews where people couldn't fit the battery on their computers I was kind of concerned. The battery arrived in the expected time... no problems with that, and it fitted on my computer. It gives me around 5 hours (from 100% to 1% of the charge) which I think is as expected. It is a little bit bigger than my original battery, but still the computer fits in my backpack with no problem.
I think the sellers of batteries should be more specific about which exact models are compatible with which exact batteries to save some bad reviews.

The battery I received didn't fit my 14" Lenovo T61 either. On top of that, in order to get a refund, I have to pay a 10% restocking fee.
Since it doesn't seem that I am the only one to have this experience, you should look into this, Amazon. I won't buy from Databazaar again.

They received my return on Nov 27. It is now Dec 29, and I still have not received a credit. I called them and was told they would expedite my credit - I should expect it in a week. This is one of the worst experiences I have had shopping through Amazon.

First of all this battery is the original replacement for a T61 14' wide screen. For those who say the battery doesn't fit in their computers, it's evident they have another model of computer. It's easy to find which battery is right to which model; all the information is at the Lenovo website.

I bought the battery from ANTOnline. I got it in 3 days, and as I was expecting it arrived in the original package with the labels from lenovo.

I put it on my laptop and not problem at all. The power manager recognized it immediately and this is the information from it:

Manufacturer Name: SANYO / in the label on the package says Lenovo, but it was the same with the original that came with the laptop so no problem at all.
Manufacture Date: 12/24/2009 / in the label on the package says 12/26/2009 which means the battery is really new.
Designed Capacity: 84.24
Full Charge Capacity: 88.50
Remaining Capacity: 88.50 (Greater than the designed capacity actually)
Cycle Count: 1 (The first charge I made)

I have windows 7 in my machine and it last an average of 6 hours working intensively...programming, using databases(oracle), etc.

So all in all it's been worthy the $129 I paid for it and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I recommend it to anyone looking to replace the battery for a ThinkPad T61 14' Wide Screen.

I would have to agree with several others here that said they are getting the wrong battery. The battery I received fits in a W500 (type 4062-4FU) or a T61 with a standard display (type 8892-02U). The battery shipped does not match the picture, and will NOT fit in a T61 with a 14.1" Widescreen (type 7659-01U) or a T400 (type 2764-CT0). The battery shipped has an FRU of 92P1140, P/N 92P1140. It's not that I didn't do my research, believe me, I did. The battery that I needed was a 43R2499 as shown in the Product Details here, and as pictured. Fortunately, we have some of each of the models listed above, so I can use the battery that was shipped. However, I will not buy again, and would not recommend that anyone buy from Genesis Batteries. It seems that they are incompetent when it comes to shipping the correct part that is ordered. I would guess that some people are getting the correct battery, but evidently it depends on which day of the week your order ships!

This is a great product matching the exact description. Those people complained here simply didn't see the battery is only for widescreen. I did my homework carefully and got exactly what I wanted.

the people that rated this battery less than 4-5 simply ordered the wrong battery. they didn't know the part number when the ordered it.

this battery is the 43R2499. i just put it in my T400 14.1 in and it is working beautifully.

moreover, the battery is NOT some generic ripoff that fits into lenovo thinkpads. it is lenovo branded/sealed on the box as well as on the battery itself. it carries a lenovo warranty. given that it was about $60 cheaper on amazon compared to buying the same battery from lenovo (using the shareholder discount), and you are getting the EXACT same lenovo branded battery, it's a no brainier!!!! BUY THIS BATTERY INSTEAD!

btw - i don't know what those other things pictured with the battery is in the picture above (looks like some USB key), but it didn't come with mine, which is fine with me. . . . also, i bought by battery from amazon.com and not one of their marketplace vendors which might explain why i had such a good experience.

This battery works much better than the original one that comes w/ the laptop itself. I guess maybe its just because it has more capacity? This one does actually last for around 4-5 hours and I am satisfied with it. JUST MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE ADAPTOR ONCE IT'S FULLY CHARGED. It will make the battery life longer. And make sure you get the right battery. I believe this one its for the 14" widescreen. If you are unsure make sure you contact Lenovo before purchasing this. I had no problem with it so I am happy w/ this battery

- This fits the T61 14.1" widescreen only.
- My roommate has a non-widescreen and the batteries for the two machines ARE DIFFERENT. If you care to know, there's a rectangular notch of plastic that's cut out on the widescreen batteries, so thank you Lenovo for not making the batteries interchangable.
- My battery came from the vendor [...] and it was a fairly new battery - ordered in mid-March and the battery date as stated by the information is mid-February.
- Overall, I am please so far but annoyed at Lenovo for having faulty batteries in their machines that don't work and need to be replaced.

it's suppose to be from lenovo, but after checking, it says it's from samsung, I am not sure if it's because lenovo buys batteries from samsung, or is it not from lenovo. But the quality of the battery seems to be fine. So I will do business again, since it's a lot cheaper than buying from lenovo directly
