Book Description

January 26, 2012
The majority of us struggle at times with how best to connect our minds with others. John Serpa contends that the reason these disconnects often occur is we're ignoring how the human brain is wired to link one mind to another. This often results in diminished outcomes--both personally and organizationally. In this thought-provoking new book, Serpa examined over eighty years of neuroscience and behavioral psychology research in order to find the answers as to what we can do to link our minds more effectively.

Serpa believes that specific aspects of mind-to-mind linking: Listening with attentiveness, Involving every participant's perspective, Noticing the nonverbal blinkers we signal, and expanding Knowledge flow from person to person--bolsters results. LiNK will also show you that these connection mechanisms can enable organizations to become high performers--with little expense. Through riveting stories, interviews with intriguing people, and visits to high-flying organizations; LiNK will take you on a journey that will improve your interaction, influence, and impact with those around you.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

My intent in writing LiNK was to deliver something that nets immense value to the reader. LiNK is a book that takes you on a journey into means our minds connect, with real-life examples and no jargon. In addition, LiNK is for people who typically wouldn't read a book on how to improve organizations. It'll give you an enchanting view of the simplicity of how to garnish meteoric outcomes.

In short, I desire every reader to come away with a renewed sense of breaking the isolation cycle and becoming better equipped to link their minds to those around them. And...learn how the human brain is cognitively wired to accomplish this.

I am not a business person- but have experienced working/serving in both large and small organizations in my medical practice and as a coach. This book is loaded with fascinating examples of successful individuals, teams and groups who have harnessed the power of our brain's interconnectivity........ and how we, as humans, are capable of creating miracles, discovering a needle in a haystack and solving problems when we LiNK or connect with our minds. Fine tuned attentiveness, noticing, probing deeper are just a few of the skills highlighted. In a world which is as the Author says increasingly more like "whitewater" all the time its important for our businesses and our communities to be able to LiNK for the benefit of all. Together we are so much stronger, more brilliant and resourceful than we are alone. The author does an amazing job of telling great stories and then dissecting just what aspect of neuroscience is at play, how it was leveraged and the amazing outcomes possible when we LiNK. Why are we here on the planet after all? I believe it's to serve the whole while seeking to fulfill our own desires....I am because we are (LiNK-ed).

5.0 out of 5 stars Linking Our Minds March 2, 2012
Format:Paperback
Let me start off by saying, I don't read non-fiction--or didn't, until I picked up a copy of John Serpa's new, spellbinding book, LINK. I'd heard that this was a business book, but not a business book. I don't read business books, either (unless, held at gunpoint.) Along with business, Link is spiritual book, discussing how each one of us connects on levels much deeper than life suggests. How our positive (and negative) thoughts affect others. How to improve a business, a school, any kind of organization using a few easy, no-cost steps.

Watch how Mr. Serpa combines the actions of a ship's captain, a corporate executive, a principal, trapped miners and stormchasers. What do these people have in common that changed how they effectively handled big issues using a variety of techniques offered in Link. What I like about Link, is that every point is scientifically researched. In fact, the book is brought to life as we vividly, albeit imaginatively, get to participate in many of the experiments used to test the theories.

I've been told that Mr Sepa is a stormchaser himself. Reading Serpa's book made me understand how he can harness a storm of ideas and lay them out in such easy to read, brillantly interesting and inspiring prose. I highly recommend Serpa's LINK. You will, too!

Bravo, Mr Serpa. Bravo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just another business book. June 15, 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was full of anecdotal stories that not only demonstrate the power of connection, but are interesting reads in and of themselves. The fact the book covers topics from both the business and psychological perspective makes it relevant to all areas of life. I particularly enjoyed the section on mirror neurons which literally changed the way I motivate myself. Understanding how to harness the power of mirror nurons can change your life for the better. LiNK was worth the read for that takeaway alone.
