I was quite surprised with the quality of this product. I wasn't expecting too much from canned beef, but this is very tasty. The beef chunks are in a nice, fairly thick gravy and it works well in many dishes including just pouring over rice or mashed potatoes for a simple meal. The texture of the meat is very good--it reminds me of crock pot cooked beef stew. It's a real time saver and I keep several cans on hand.

Libby's Roast Beef with gravy is great. Just whip up some instant mashed potatoes and add this Roast beef and you have a great meal. Complete in less then 10 minutes. I was a little worried about ordering food from Amazon. Wasn't sure what the expiration date would be. When the Roast Beef arrived at my house I couldn't tell what the expiration date was with all those numbers on the can. So, I called the 1 800 number on the can of roast beef. I have about 2 years before expiration date expires. My roast beef was packaged November 5, 2008 with an expiration date of November 5 2010. Very good!
Edited August 17, 2010: I bought more from Amazon on May 11, 2010. The date code was 090326 which is March 26, 2009 packaged. The expiration date is 2 years later which would be March 26, 2011. I've noticed in the stores (Lucky's supermarket) that the new cans have a date code spelled out with the month printed out in letters making it real easy to understand. Edited December 15,2010: On September 20, 2010 I purchase another 8 cans. It has the "Production date 2009/04/20" stamped on it with a "B.B.E 2014/04/20". That means April 20th 2009 it was sealed. Since Libby's already told me it has a shelf life of 2 years.....that means April 20th 2011 it expires. I don't trust the B.B.E. date. Looks like Amazon has to many of these cans in there warehouse. The expiration date is getting closer. The taste of the meat has changed too. The taste is ok but it's definitely different. On the can it now says it's made in Argentina. I believe it was Brazil before. Maybe their cows are different in Argentina. I prefer the other cow. I think I'm going to stop purchasing these now from Amazon. Unless they get a fresh shipment of newer product. And Libby's, please go back to the old cows.

I've been looking for more choices that give me at least a partial "made-at-home" taste with minimum work. Sometimes I come home from work and I am so tired that I don't want to cook much of anything - - but I also want something other than take-out, canned soup, or a frozen dinner. After seeing the reviews for this product, I ordered it. I figured that it would be average, but I was willing to take the chance because the price was low and the nutrition information showed this to be a healthy choice.
To my pleasant surprise, it is everything the other reviews suggested and more! I came home, threw a couple of potatoes in the microwave, and emptied the roast beef into a bowl. I ended up with the beef and gravy over lightly buttered baked potatoes. It was a hearty and filling meal (enough for two dinners) that tasted like a good crock pot roast. I've since tried the product in stroganoff and creamed over toast points. Both were fantasatic! The meat is hearty, lean, and tender; the gravy is flavorful and rich. Honestly, I'm amazed that something so good is such a secret - - but then again, any canned beef I've tried before this product has tasted (and smelled!) like dog food. Bottom line: THIS IS A FANTASTIC PRODUCT! It is delicious, convenient, versatile, and thoroughly enjoyable. What a blessing!
