Book Description

April 15, 2005
America’s bravest voice is back with a third dose of his bitter medicine—this time with the remedy to heal America’s liberal maladies. In his first two books, radio sensation Michael Savage offered a blistering attack on the erosion of America’s values. Now, in the third installment of his bold and biting trilogy, he offers provocative yet practical ways to reclaim our social, political, and cultural integrity. Through a compelling narative of current trends and events, Savage chronicles the continued assault on the sacred pillars of American life (the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Ten Commandments, the Sanctity of Marriage) by the High Priests of Ultra-Liberalism and provides the remedy for freedom-loving Americans to effectively medicate the mental disease of modern liberalism and restore America’s former brilliance. In each chapter, the Savage Spotlight of Truth casts its brilliant light on the tactics used by liberals to spread their leftist agenda and follow it with a dose of specific actions, arguments, and activism that the listener can ingest to counter the left. After all, as Savage said in The Savage Nation, America’s best days are in front of her, if we have the guts to face the truth and apply ourselves to repairing the foundation upon which this blessed nation was formed.

Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

On his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage's rhetoric makes Rush Limbaugh seem tame in comparison. Savage's style is memorable, provocative, and inimitable. Reader Mark Warner clearly understands Savage's style and seeks to represent it as closely as possible. Warner comes close to capturing Savage's outrage, irony, and humor, but he doesn't capture it completely. Nevertheless, Warner's reading is clear and even-paced. As for the text, Savage offers his views on a wide range of issues, from the war on terrorism ("We need more Patton and less patent leather") to why the American people, whom he regularly calls "sheeple," are so gullible. 4.0 out of 5 stars Better than I expected; really made me think..., April 5, 2005
Love him or hate him, Dr. Savage is certainly an interesting and compelling writer. He's back once again touting his "borders, language and culture" mantra from the previous books. This is supposedly the final of this series. The new spin this time takes his assault on liberalism to its ultimate and logical conclusion, asserting that extreme liberalism is in fact a mental disease--one in which logic no longer prevails yet emotion runs rampant. The useful morons, as he calls them, flock like lemmings behind ideas that simply cannot work. He goes on to prove his points by citing hundreds of specific examples based upon remarkably well-founded research (the guy is an actual scientist after all). It's nice to see a little substance behind the political commentary.

He doesn't just slam the left, as you might expect from the title, however. His vitriol takes a stab at the current administration's handling of homeland security in general and our country's borders in particular. Savage's fiery witticisms such as "more Pattons (i.e., the general) and less patent leather," "one dirty bomb ruining your whole day," and "oil for illegals" aren't really as funny as he thinks they are and frankly got pretty annoying after a while. Regardless, the underlying message is pretty well-written, consistent, and insightful.

If you want to look at America through the eyes of a true conservative, this book is for you. If you lean left you will hate it. If you lean right you'll probably love it. The vast majority of us in the middle will think it is worth reading. It doesn't follow the Republican party line nor does it universally slam the Democrats. It's truly a liberal vs. conservative treatise and a pretty good one at that.

All in all, I found this book not only entertaining, but illuminating as well. It really did make me think.

5.0 out of 5 stars You always knew liberals had issues -- now it's documented., October 15, 2009

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder is for those who have always felt "Something" is wrong with liberals, didn't have the time to figure out exactly what it was, and have the burning desire to finally put their finger on it.

It's an accurate description of why Liberals think and do the things they do.

How I found this book:

I had always thought that most Liberals had some degree of psychological disturbance. This was an honest observation, and not an attempt to disparage them -- though there's now way to say this and have a liberal not feel disparaged. Nobody want's to be told they have a psychological issues.

Years ago, when Bush was running for his 2nd term, I began to scan AM radio for the first time in my life. As auto-scan ran through the stations and I suddenly heard "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder". Nearly spilling my drink, I reached for the radio to keep it from scanning further.

That's how I found Savage, and that's how I found this book.

Love Savage or hate Savage -- love me or hate me for my post [insert your own finish here]

A Kid's Review
I find it hard to believe that so many reviewers can bash this book and call the information it provides faulty or moronic. Savage wrote his book wonderfully and sited many specific examples of how liberalism is hell-bent on destroying American values. And what is most surprising (at least to ignorant radical left wingers) is that he provides logic. Is it logical to provide illegial aliens with American benifets? Is it logical to not be allowed to hire people you want to hire in your buisness? Or is logical to have more of our soldiers on trial for killing the enemey then the enemey themselves? No, and thats exactly what savage exploits
