Better than I expected; really made me think..., April 5, 2005
Love him or hate him, Dr. Savage is certainly an interesting and compelling writer. He's back once again touting his "borders, language and culture" mantra from the previous books. This is supposedly the final of this series. The new spin this time takes his assault on liberalism to its ultimate and logical conclusion, asserting that extreme liberalism is in fact a mental disease--one in which logic no longer prevails yet emotion runs rampant. The useful morons, as he calls them, flock like lemmings behind ideas that simply cannot work. He goes on to prove his points by citing hundreds of specific examples based upon remarkably well-founded research (the guy is an actual scientist after all). It's nice to see a little substance behind the political commentary.
He doesn't just slam the left, as you might expect from the title, however. His vitriol takes a stab at the current administration's handling of homeland security in general and our country's borders in particular. Savage's fiery witticisms such as "more Pattons (i.e., the general) and less patent leather," "one dirty bomb ruining your whole day," and "oil for illegals" aren't really as funny as he thinks they are and frankly got pretty annoying after a while. Regardless, the underlying message is pretty well-written, consistent, and insightful.
If you want to look at America through the eyes of a true conservative, this book is for you. If you lean left you will hate it. If you lean right you'll probably love it. The vast majority of us in the middle will think it is worth reading. It doesn't follow the Republican party line nor does it universally slam the Democrats. It's truly a liberal vs. conservative treatise and a pretty good one at that.
All in all, I found this book not only entertaining, but illuminating as well. It really did make me think.

Great BOOK, - STARTS you thinking - make up your own mind!, April 21, 2005
I have listened to various talk radio shows for years, as I drive all over to, from and for work / live....whatever.
I read anything and everything plus live life. Neither liberal or conservative.....just believe and vote for who I think will do the best job etc.
I think Savage is a hoot, plus he does say it like it is. Although i do find him a bit extreme at times, he does point out interesting points. In addition there are certain passions he has, where he digs up facts and provides hitory, I would not know otherwise.
In his book, I learned a lot about concepts that happen now, that have occurred in the past, old behaviors that are just repeating themselves......i.e. human behaviors, i researched this on my own, after getting the notes from his book in the back, and learned even more. I liked that about this book, the references rocked so I could research and learn more on my own, that took me in all different directions.
ONe thing I love about Michael Savage is he sparks my mind to think and learn for myself because of his writing style and "in your face style" He doesn't drag on too long on one topic, he is humorous, catty and then offers his solutions (sometimes very out there - but sometimes the out there is just to scary for us to swallow because they should be done)
I really recommend this book because it opens your mind to thinking, don't take his words as God's words, think for yourself, as you always should. Michael Savage is very unique on his radio show, he continually tells his listeners that he is only a talk show host, he has no political power etc. He is just an entertainer who cares about issues etc.
Back to the book, it is very entertaining and informative. I don't think Savage is a liberal or conservative....I know I disagree with a lot of his positions, however that is why I love America, we are allowed to do this. One thing I think this book does say and I agree with is that all of us have to stand up and take back our Country, instead of bitching about what party we are and how bad congress, senate or presidents are.
We all need to start doing instead of spewing because it doesn't look like anyone in Washington is going to do.
At any rate, loved the book, it really is good and I don't think anyone would be bummed if they got this and read it.
Hope this helps.
Bonnie
