Editorial Reviews

Inanimate Existence, the technical death metal outfit hailing from California's San Francisco Bay Area. Take a journey within one's own mind; Inanimate Existence spawns a crushing fusion of classically influenced compositions and modern death metal, creating a truly UNIQUE sound. The bands sound brings an onslaught of crushing, true death metal, while pushing the musical envelope with their other worldly compositions and painstaking writing. Their debut album, "Liberation Through Hearing," is set to be released this summer, July 17th. Recorded by Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, CA. Artwork by Alex Cohen of Colonize the Rotting.

I found these guys on (you guessed it...) Metal Archives and listened to their stuff then ordered their album. Now this is some interesting technical brutal death metal; though it's heavy they also put some nice acoustic (yes, you read correctly) interludes and nice bass solos and passages. This is not your typical TBDM release -this is more akin to what Obscura, Augury or Decrepit Birth would do, mixed in with a healthy dose of Suffocation (the brutal parts).

These guys are talented, no doubt in my mind. They've crafted an album that manages to be both dense and heavy with enough dynamics to allow the music to breathe. They aren't slouches on the instruments either: the guitars are heavy, great soloing, the bass is given life and audible -even getting some solo sections and being featured on a few tracks -very different from a lot of death metal. The drumming is above par: this guy is great. He can blast with the best, keep up on all the fills and generate some excitement with cymbal flurries. He even plays bongos on a few of the "lighter" passages! This is TBDM -nobody plays bongos! Except this guy!

Overall, excellent debut by these guys -I look forward to future releases by them as they grow and progress. Very exciting stuff -I highly recommend getting this.

This album takes you on a journey of abrupt and sometimes violent double bass and fast-changing rhythms. The bass interludes are well placed and precisely executed. Well worth your time.
