*Disclaimer* I do not speak on behalf of the FreeStateProject nor Libertopia. *Disclaimer*

This documentary humbly follows individuals on their journey to find/create liberty. The goal of the FreeStateProject is merely to move as many liberty activists as possible to one state in the hopes of bringing about a libertarian(ish) society. They must pledge that the maximum role of government is the protection of life, liberty, and property. This can be interpreted to mean anything from true small government Conservatives, Constitutionalists, Classic liberals, Objectivists, Agorists, Anarcho-capitalists, Voluntaryists and libertarians..

Libertarians have tried with passionate vigor to limit the Federal government but nothing seems to work, sadly the "rights" enshrined by the Constitution are all but gone in America. That is why we must concentrate into a single area (People of the world); nothing dangerous or foolish like a giant commune but spread amongst a state.

Do not fear libertarians, Agorists and Anarcho-capitalists. Yes they are against the status-quo but they are not against governance, rules, ethics, enterprise or leaders, they are for non-coercive contract law, individual property rights and non-aggression. They are against initiatory violence, theft and the centralization of violent power.

People all over the world have been betrayed to ignorance, propaganda and corruption, there is no free land left on Earth. Perhaps Antarctica.. but one does not move out of civilization to forward civilization. Freestaters go to live in what was historically, traditionally once the MOST free, MOST prosperous nation on Earth, in the MOST free state with a motto "Live Free or Die!

This movie was very good. I am familiar with the Free State Project and have even considered signing the pledge. Every time I watch videos of people documenting their experience there, it really makes me long to be a part of that kind of community. This movie is like watching those YouTube videos, but a lot better. I got to look into the lives of people who were moving there while the movie was being filmed and got to hear about some of their struggles and accomplishments. I also got to hear the stories of people who are already established in New Hampshire. This wasn't as thorough a documentary of the Free State Project as I thought was going to be presented, so I was a little disappointed in that regard. Overall though, I was able to learn, get some more insights into the activities of the FSPers, get an idea of what the experience is like moving there, and how easy it is to plug right in to getting active. This is what I wanted out of the documentary and this is what I got. A job well done and I hope to see more soon!

While I enjoy documentaries, I rarely purchase them. I purchased Libertopia shortly after it was released based largely on the previews and I was not disappointed. Libertopia follows the lives of several participants in the Free State Project as they make the move in search of freedom and settle into lives in New Hampshire. The visuals (particularly as one character was followed as he walked across the country) were stunning and the stories were inspiring. As a long time NH resident I was particularly fascinated that people would make the move to enjoy a life that I had come to take for granted.

If you are looking for an uplifting, moderately paced family friendly documentary about people taking positive steps to change their lives, then I'd certainly recommend at least streaming Libertopia. I'm glad I purchased the DVD and have occasionally popped it in to watch again.

This movie is amazing. The tale of 3 different freedom fighters about the journey to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project.
The documentary takes a very objective view of the subjects of the movie as well as the whole topic. You can't help but be moved by Mrs Carroll as she talks about her son moving to NH. And Will Buchanan.... INSPIRING.

Do yourself a favor and get this movie... you won't regret it.

I loved this movie! Not only was it moving to see a story about passionate people inspired to live their lives according to their values, it was also informative about what being a Libertarian means. It made me think about my political values and beliefs and what I am doing in my life that supports them. Also, great cinematography - really beautifully shot and put together! Highly recommended!

This film is outstanding - the stories are expertly told, and the visuals are gorgeous. If you're even remotely interested in the subject matter -- or even just high quality film making -- this is a must have.
