Book Description

Set in 1859 Denver, Liberty Belle is a story of finding freedom and forgiveness. A jilted bride, a wayward sheriff, a small boy, outlaws, and a gallows provide
plenty of action, romance, and hope.

Liberty Longstreet was left at the altar, but that wasn’t the worst of her day. She awakens to the fact that she needs to declare independence from her controlling mother. Wanting her freedom and to find a man of her choosing, Libby leaves home for faraway Denver. She just doesn't count on being robbed, falling for a wayward sheriff, or being accused of murder.

Sheriff Wade Calder throws down his badge in a quest for revenge. Instead, he takes responsibility for his enemy’s young son. Wanting only to be free, Wade runs into Libby, and she wins what is left of his heart. Unfortunately, he has nothing to offer her until he picks up his badge. His honor is restored, but it may cost Libby her life.

Together they learn the cost of freedom and the wealth of forgiveness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny to Gripping June 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the first chapter, where Liberty Longstreet gets jilted at the alter causing a pew-side brawl between the prospective father-in-laws, I was hooked. Yet, the story only increases in intensity once Libby decides to break free of her conniving mother for the freedom of choosing her own destiny.

Yet, as Libby finds out, Freedom doesn't come free, there are always prices to pay.

Flora, Libby's spinster aunt tags along and in this character, we find a gentle, yet brave spirit who flourishes as she treks along after her impulsive niece in search of a place where she can truly bloom.

The hero, handsome Wade, is intent on getting revenge for the murder of his family, and instead gets strapped with a crippled boy to care for. But the pure spirited Mark begins to shed light on the way back to God and finding the path to forgiveness.

I'm not going to tell you the end of the story, but will say that Libby goes from one mishap to another in her stubborn dedication to become free, only to end up in prison and charged with murder. Carroll keeps you page flipping until the very end in a tale that keeps the reader dangling from the end of a rope.

I'm eagerly awaiting Carroll's next book.

Patricia has created a journey of one woman who has a dream and is determined to see it through. Finally a love story for adults done tastefully. I even bought this book for a friend. I am looking forward to her next adventure.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Independent Woman June 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As Patricia PacJac Carroll's debut novel, Liberty Belle, provides an action packed tale of twenty year old Libby Longstreet's search for independence and freedom in 1850. Left at the altar by a childhood friend, Libby runs from the church and stumbles into the arms of Wade Calder, who saves her from falling. Wade, running from his own past, restores Libby and gallops off dropping his sheriffs badge at her feet. Their brief encounter is a moment where they both return to dream in the dark of night.

To escape her dominating Mother and the humiliation of being left at the altar, she leaves in the middle of the night to take the stage from Missouri to Denver, Colorado. She is accompanied by her thirty year old `spinster' Aunt Flora Longstreet, who learns of Libby's plans and decides this could be her last chance to have a life as well. Neither are prepared, from the weather to the dangers, for the results of their rather impulsive decision to go into the frontier.

If you like stories of independent women making their way in the world, you will enjoy this book. As Libby moves closer to her the world she dreamed of, her journey becomes filled with danger, conflicts and problems until it seems no one, not even Wade, will be able to save her.

I must have been influenced by the characters in the book. After finishing it, I took off on a 3 day trip without a plan or a map. There are few slower paces in the beginning of the book, but once the action begins, it is hard to put down.

Patricia Carroll is in my writing critique group.

Patricia Carroll has captured the essence of the old West in this endearing story. Her characters are flawed, but growing. And she brings a unique voice to the western scene. I'm looking forward to more stories from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting and Romantic! May 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Liberty Belle is one of my favorite all-time books!

Patricia PacJac Carroll has captured the charm of the old west without losing the intensity of a suspense-filled story. Riveting! Liberty Longstreet connected with me immediately through her humiliation and the manipulation she endured. She kept me with her determination and compassion. Then she twisted me into emotional knots as I rode with her through impossible circumstances.

If you're a fan of Christian romance in any form, you'll love this gripping story.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book! August 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the reviews prior to getting the book. The lower marks were mostly for punctuation errors, I am not putting that into the equation as I feel that they did not harm the story.

I enjoyed the family dynamics, action of the wild west, the different dynamics of the characters; all with the underlying Christian theme. I like that nothing was forced down your throat!

The book had a wonderful compilation of humor, drama, action, and romance. The writing was witty and refreshing. I love how she took our original feelings about one character in the beginning, then if you had any heart at all, you would find yourself wondering if you should rethink that opinion!

Yes, the book has a good ending, not totally predictable though! I, personally, look forward to happy endings, that is why I get these kind of books to read!

I'm looking forward to many more by this author...I'd love to see a continuation! I'm hooked on Molly and especially her Aunt! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Liberty Belle rings with charm and sweetness August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love, love, love this novel. I'm not going to spoil anything about the "details" so you feel like you already read the book after reading my review (wish those reviewing wouldn't give away so much info!). I'm also not going to criticize the "grammer" mistakes...not even sure whose fault that is. I think I just made a grammatical mistake...oh well! I am going to say how much I enjoyed this book. The plot, the characters, the strength, the courage, the love...all so worth the read. Grab a cup of coffee (perhaps an espresso if you are so inclined) and sit back and enjoy the ride, this novel is full of twists, turns and surprises. I would highly recommend this to my friends. Well done!
