The real terrorists,
This review is from: Liberty in Eclipse (Paperback)
My chance of being injured or killed by a radical Muslim here in American is practically non-existent. That brand of "terror" does not concern me. What DOES bring a measure of concern, even fear, to me, after reading Mr. Grigg's book, is account after account of near unbelievable, yet undeniable (well referenced) savagery executed on innocent citizens of our own country BY OUR OWN POLICE!
I have a much higher risk of being unlawfully detained and abused by either local police or Homeland Security thugs than being injured or killed by a radical Muslim! I am NOT saying radical Islam is not a problem. I am saying we have a much larger problem already in place. This is not a subject most of us enjoy reading about. However, it is a subject we will either read about and DO something about, or risk being the victim of it. Our liberties, our well-being, even our very lives are at stake. I highly recommend this book to all who are concerned about the loss of liberty, freedom, and due process of law in America.

Accurate depiction of Americans' eroding liberty,
By Skytrooper (Sioux Falls, SD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Liberty in Eclipse (Paperback)
As an avid reader of William Grigg's blog, Pro Libertate, I was already familiar with many of the heinous criminal misdeeds perpetrated by the oath-betraying minions of tyranny who comprise modern American politicians and "law enforcement" described in this book. Whether it's Congress and our "Great Leader" eviscerating habeas corpus with the Military Commissions Act, gutting the Fourth Amendment with the so-called PATRIOT Act, using "signing statements" to circumvent new laws, the proliferation of amoral SWAT teams or Orange County deputies crushing a prisoner's [...] with impunity or severely beating and kicking in the ribs of an innocent businessman with his hands cuffed behind his back, Grigg thoroughly documents government abuses here in the "Land of the Free."
This first edition needed a better proofreading as there are numerous typos and punctuation errors, but they're trivial compared to the important material contained inside. I encourage people to buy and read this book while they're still "allowed" to.

The Institutionalization of Torture,
By
This review is from: Liberty in Eclipse (Paperback)
For all of those who dismiss the prospect of the American government using torture with a wink and a nod, this book is a shocking eye-opener to how using torture on "terrorists" easily slides into practicing torture upon American citizens. It shows how torture is very counter-productive, as it demoralizes those who practice it, and usually extracts only false information. When those who are trained by this terror machine return to a civilian career in law enforcement, that is when terrorism really comes to the streets of anytown, USA.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Liberty in Eclipse (Paperback)
This book is essential reading for every US citizen concerned about the transmogrification of our republic into an electoral tyranny. There is a bipartisan consensus to strengthen the power of the government and strip the American people of the rights and freedom which we once heralded before the world. It's as if we live in a one-party party state. Yes, there are two wings of the party: a "liberal" wing and a "conservative" wing, but it's still a one-party system.

A Must Read!,
By Moss (antarctica) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Liberty in Eclipse (Paperback)
Mr.Grigg is very intelligent, his book is well-researched, and if you're not already frightened at the direction the U.S. is headed, this piece is guaranteed to get you there, and rightfully so.
A lovely bonus is an excellent interview with Mr.Grigg that was included as a surprise. I cannot recommend this book strongly enough, and I also recommend popping in and checking out the author's delightful blog as well: http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/

A confused look at the oppression of government,
This review is from: Liberty in Eclipse (Paperback)
Although Based on facts, the conclusions brought by this author have been drawn on misguided believes that the republican party and GW Bush in particular are the root of all evil. Yes the federal Government has grasped powers that are dangerous and need to be stopped, but to attach blame to one resent Administration or congress is dishonest, naive, and irresponsible. The power grab by the government started after the civil war with the failure of the 14th amendment to be ratified, and congress forcibly removing state legislatures and instilling federal controlled legislatures to get the 14th amendment ratified. And ;after orders to the supreme court legislating that they don't have the right to review and give a decision on the 14th amendment. After seeing what That runaway congress had done to state governments and President Andrew Jackson the Supreme Court decided to go along with the orders instead of having the entire government fail with the elimination of the third branch of government.
There have been many smaller changes and abuses along the way but none including the ones that GW Bush did could have been done without the post civil war reconstruction act and the forced ratification of the 14th amendment. This book is a very good example of revisionist history being propped up by current events. I gave 2 stars because these stories of wrong doing need to told but not as an agenda to a party belief but for awareness and a push for Americans to be vigilant. |
