This is my first burr grinder, and was thus pleasantly surprised that even a grinder as small and as light as this one makes a difference in my coffee. I like it for its size; it's so portable with the detachable handle that you can keep inside the grinder. It takes some effort to grind the coffee beans, though. But hey, as a home roaster, this is just one more small step in my quest for the perfect cup. I stir like crazy when pan roasting, so the manual grinding is fine with me. What I do is grind the beans while water is being heated. No time wasted, just added effort.

The Traveler 2 has been use in our outdoor activities now for about three weeks. This appliance is reasonably rugged, but time will tell. Functionally the system is well designed meeting the requirement that it is easy to hold on to as you crank away. Our usage is for grinding flax seeds for immediate use in morning cereal. And, for this purpose the device works nicely. This is not too surprising since the burr grinding mechanism appears to be of high quality. The adjustment screw on ours needs to be turned occasionally to maintain an optimal grind. The only possible complaint might be that it takes a lot of grinding to grind up one third of a cup of flax seeds. Then too the Traveler 2 is designed to be a coffee grinder not a flax seed grinder. The plastic cup that collects the grounds is rugged and works quite well. It is easy to remove when full and it is a trivial operation to replace it. In this instance there was a problem with Amazon's inventory control system: Amazon displayed that the item was in stock. However when the item was ordered the company reported that the item was back ordered! The item did still arrive on time.

and texture in small quantities. It's especially adaptable for general travel or camping. Highly recommended.
